stop others getting this stomach bug - how?

Hi all,

I had a burger out yesterday afternoon...

In the evening I had a short lived stomach ache (not that bad), then again in the early hours of today which ended by going to the toilet once - mildish Diarrhoea.

Fine after, this morning is all normal too. Symptoms were mild: pain was low and fleeting, no nausea/vomiting, no repeated diarrhoea. BUT I have an elderly relative staying this weekend, arriving Friday.

I can avoid them going into my bedroom or the bathroom I used, but what else should I do to stop them catching anything in the house?

Thanks!

I'm no expert, but I think there's a distinction between eating bad food that disagrees with you and then leaves your system one way or another, and something like norovirus that's majorly infectious. Sounds like what you had was to former, so other than normal hygiene practices I wouldn't think you'd have to do anything to protect your guest.

But hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be along in a minute.

It's doesn't sound like a bug more like a reaction to what you ate so no risk of passing it on.

This does not sound like a bug at all. As a mum with 3 dc I can tell you what a tummy bug actually looks like. Vomiting and/or liquid diarrhoea. I manage to avoid adults in the house catching any bugs the littles have had in the last ten years, by making sure everyone is hand washing. Bleaching any bathroom a child has been sick in. I tend to put them in one bathroom on a tiny mattress on the floor until they are done being sick (sometimes it takes a few hours). But they like it, as they get iPad and toy magazines etc to pass the time. It contains it to one room. I bleach the bathroom after and don’t allow others in there for a week. I also wipe down counters etc. Much easier to prevent any spread if it’s an adult that has been sick then a child. Bc children spread germs everywhere!!

OK thanks all. So it sounds like when you do have a bug, it's letting it spread after contact with diaorrhea/vomiting that causes other people to get infected? In other words if you can cordon off the bathroom you used, and wash hands thoroughly after that should stop it?
