Suspicious mole/Melanoma

I have been to the doctors this morning about a suspiciously mole on my lower back. I’m not sure how long it’s been there. It’s very tiny, 0.3 mm but is darker than any others I have. I know I shouldn’t Google but when I do it comes up with superficial spreading melanoma.
The doctor has referred me to the two week pathway for an appointment to get it looked at. I’m glad to have the appointment happen so quickly but I’m really scared about what might happen next and the fact that I’m being referred to a skin cancer clinic.
I was wondering if anyone who has been in a similar situation could give any advice or reassurance.

I'd say just be glad you knew to get it checked out. Melanoma is very treatable early on. Don't Google and terrify yourself for something it may not be.

Thank you

Well done for getting it checked. I had melanoma and, after it was confirmed it was relatively early, they just took a wider margin and then regular skin checks. I didn't need any drug treatment. I hope it's nothing sinister.

I had a mole on my arm that kept changing. I had it removed and I was told it was a malignant melanoma.
Because it was found so early, other than the removal, I didn't need any further treatment 😊 it was really simple.

I had another mole that looked dodgy and as I was still under the skin cancer clinic (they review you for a year) it was removed immediately. It was totally benign.

Good luck!

I went a few years ago about a dark mole. Was all fine.

It's honestly fine. If anything's of concern they'll just remove it there and then.

Thank you so much

I had an itchy mole, they though it was nothing but removal took about quarter of an hour in all. I have a type of Mike which means I'm more likely to get skin cancer than most.

Another here who had early stage Malignant melanoma. Had it cut out, then a wider excision after diagnoses, then full skin checks for a year.

Hi OP
you say it's 00.3mm you mean 3mm?

usally most under 5mm are nothing to worry about but you done the right thing.

I've been checked twice over 5 years last time this year when a 20+ year old more rose changed clour etc - it was all ok and back to normal - the 5 years ago on my thigh above knee about4mm across becmae scaly and was all ok
