Full ear

Hello just posting to see if anyone's had any experience
My ear feels 'full' today
And yet I don't have any other signs of an ear infection (outer or inner)
Has anyone else had this?
What was it?
It's really annoying me as obviously it's having an affect on my hearing in that ear too

unless you've been swimming lately it sounds like it's blocked with wax. go get it suctioned. I think vision express does it now

purpleme12 · 14/10/2021 23:11

Thank you
You're right it is blocked
I haven't actually had a blocked ear for over 15 years
Really struggling 😥
Vision Express doesn't do it here
I don't trust Specsavers after the ear person there said my ear doesn't need dewaxing and he could see the ear drum and yet 2 days later the audiologist at the hospital said it did need dewaxing and he couldn't see my ear drum (this was before it was blocked but it had wax in)

If you're in London go to Clear ear on Harley St. you will walk out and feel like your volume has been turned up clearearclinic.com

purpleme12 · 14/10/2021 23:40

Not in London
Already been referred to ENT from my previous visit to audiology because there was too much wax there. But now it's actually blocked 😓
The appointment isn't till November
I've got to ring tomorrow and beg them to see me sooner
Struggling at work so much never mind anywhere else

Do not get them to blast it with water and don't put any olive oil or drops in. Don't try and clean it as the wax get pushed further down and blocks it more. You really need to get it suctioned ASAP and you will feel so much better. Google ear suction or vacuum near your home

Mmmm l

purpleme12 · 15/10/2021 10:39

Oh right I shouldn't put olive oil drops in?
That's always what I've been told when there's wax in?
I have been putting them in in the vain hope it'll help. Not that it is

don't put olive oil down it as whilst it softens the wax it also makes it expand and if it's already uncomfortable then it's going to make it more so.

If you can't get an appt with your ENT then there is likely to be a ear clinic nearby. Just search ear suctioning location and should be able to find somewhere

purpleme12 · 15/10/2021 14:09

There is at Specsavers and Boots
Although Boots said they don't have appointments for ages. Didn't elaborate
I am reluctant to trust Specsavers after he told me he could see my ear drum and my ear wouldn't benefit from dewaxing then 2 days later the audiologist at the hospital said he couldn't see my ear drum and it's still full of wax, so much so I still couldn't get my hearing aids fitted.
The removal of ear wax at GPs is affecting me so much
I just want to cry 😭

I have been advised to put olive oil drops in to soften the wax so that it can be unblocked.
I don't understand why they've taken something so essential away from primary care in NHS
