Diarrhoea every 15/20 mins (TMI)

Looking for some advice on whether this is normal.

I had my Covid booster on Monday morning. All fine until Tuesday afternoon- headache, throbbing glands, felt a bit out of it. Then the diarrhoea started.

At first it wasn't too frequent.

Basically I've been in bed for two days feeling weak and I'm having to go every 15/20 mins. Not only is this painful but I'm getting no rest.

Am drinking plenty of water.

I've never had it this long or frequent before. At first I thought it was the booster but now I'm wondering if it's a bug. I feel horrible.

Surely going that often can't be normal? Im shocked there's anything to come out as I've had two spoonfuls of porridge since Tuesday eve. Can't face food.

Rang 111 but they try so hard to fob you off I gave up when on hold for a long while.

Any advice?

what did you eat in the day before this started and have you taken anything to stop it?

gukvguk · 07/10/2021 22:18

Nothing unusual to eat. All at home boring stuff.

Not take. Anything to stop it as tbh thought it would go. I'll have to go to pharmacy tomorrow I guess.

Get some rehydration sachets, if your going that frequently you'll need them.

Cheesepuff1 · 07/10/2021 22:24

i have had a few episodes of extreme ibs which has lasted days, generally found buscopan and immodium along with only eating small amounts of boring things like white bread and banana until it settled.

hamstersarse · 07/10/2021 22:26

I had extreme diarrhoea when I had actual covid.

Lasted weeks and weeks.

No idea if the vaccine can do that too

gukvguk · 07/10/2021 22:57

Crikey the idea of weeks of this is not fun. The night ahead alone is worrying me.

Will definitely get some Imodium or similar tomorrow abs rehydration sachets.

Thanks

Oh poor you that sounds horrendous. I would have a chat with 111 or GP (if possible) tomorrow if it's still persisting.
If you have some Vaseline it's a good idea to apply it as it prevents your bottom from getting too sore.

I've just posted another thread. I'm waiting for my PCR results. Today i've had awful diarrhoea, smells like sulphur and when I burb it's eggy.... I feel really rotten
lynntheyresexpeople · 07/10/2021 23:19

@whattodo2019 that's a stomach bug you have there. Drink plenty x

gukvguk · 08/10/2021 04:08

I got a two hour break and a doze then back to 15 mins!

I had negative LFT Wednesday so was not inclined to book a PCR but maybe a home one would be a good idea. Can't face having to drive half an hour to the test centre, do the test then drive back. Not with current bowels ☹️

Hope those suffering similarly feel better soon.

On the plus side the scales report I've lost over a stone. I know it's water but 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yes I had that awful sulphur eggy thing years ago before covid was a thing. It was so grim.

Bagelsandbrie · 08/10/2021 06:45

It may be completely unrelated to the booster. There’s a horrible non Covid bug going round with the most awful upset stomach as part of it - I think there’s actually a thread about it on here somewhere. I had it last week and thought it was never going to end! Hope you feel better soon.

CrazyCatStory · 08/10/2021 07:26

From an article by the World Health Organisation:

“Reported side effects of COVID-19 vaccines have mostly been mild to moderate and have lasted no longer thana few days. Typical side effects include pain at the injection site, fever, fatigue, headache, muscle pain, chills and diarrhoea. The chances of any of these side effects occurring after vaccination differ according to the specific vaccine”

Hope you are feeling better soon.

emmathedilemma · 08/10/2021 08:25

Don't take Imodium if you're at home. If it's a bug you want it out of your system not holding in! I'd stick to water and hydration tablets / sachets until it stops then start very small amounts of very plain food - dry white toast, rich tea biscuits, boiled potato, that type of thing.

gukvguk · 08/10/2021 10:07

Ah bugger I took the Imodium before seeing the last post! Sent DH for it and the rehydration earlier.

Feeling a bit better anyway so hopefully over the worst.

Thanks guys.

are you better today @gukvguk ?

gukvguk · 14/10/2021 17:32

Hi everyone

Appreciated the advice the other day.

It's now 9 days since I first fell ill and I still have it. Less frequently which is good but I feel awful, still off my food, tired etc.

Stool sample sent off Monday but still not back.

Will it ever end? I'm so miserable.
