Horrible fungal nails

Hi all, I’m wondering if anyone has some tips for treating a severe fungal nail infection. After my last pregnancy it now covers four toenails, two of them all the way down to the nail matrix.

It really gets me down especially as I have two babies and I’m really worried about them catching it and then never being able to get rid of it. I can’t take the tablets for other health reasons and am just at my wits’ end with it - I feel so down every time I have a shower and see the little buggers!

@Brigittebidet yep, painted it on with a kid’s paint brush. You’ve got to stick with it though, because the fungus doesn’t disappear, it grows out. So you don’t think anything’s happening at first, then you start to see the new nail growth coming through - all pink and nail-like Grin

I had this for years. Mostly not too bad but horrendous in patches. Tried all sorts of topical things.

Then one day I was idly reading a tube of Daktarin athlete’s foot cream and lo and behold it’s licensed for manky toenails. It has worked a treat, and surprisingly quickly. I kept using it until the affected nails grew out and slap some on at the first hint of trouble.

@legalseagull that is amazing! I’ve seen ads for it during my many hours of Google research for miracle cures and have never heard of it before but now I’m thinking it’s worth a go! I saw that the fancy Margaret Dabbs foot cream has emu oil in it so it must be a foot thing.

Try daktarin gold or intensiv. Be rigourous with drying your feet and nails and apply it at least twice a day.

Tea tree oil. Poundland often have it.

Honestly his toe has been awful for at least ten years. Nothing from the doctor has worked. It almost looks normal now. Just needs to grow out a bit more

@legalseagull - amazing!! I was feeling really down about it today having seen my podiatrist again who told me it was a pity I couldn’t take the tablets because they’re the only thing that will help but this thread gives me renewed hope!
