DS just had his preschool booster (side effect?)

Well, he had them yesterday morning to be precise, screamed/cried most of yesterday with pain in his arm, its swollen a little but not excessively. Gave calpol and ibuprofen. He got up this morning and has been very tearful, still complaining a bit about his arm, very tired and has the squits (but then he usually does when medicine brought into the equation).

Do you reckon this is from the jabs? His preschool teacher said she often sees children like this the day after their injections but the nurse who did them told me they don't have side effects (bit skeptical of this though!).

Thanks

all vaccines have side effects. That nurse is daft! They range from sore arm to temperature and grumpiness right up to brain damage.
Squits probably from the painkillers but if he still cries after 48 hours or develops a high pitched cry then its A&E time.
I had a jab once that made my arm so sore that if anyone even glanced at it it hurt!

dd had hers a year ago and had a temperature and was very tired. She was sent home from school a couple of times and the side effects lasted about a week. I would think your ds is suffering from the effects of the jab.

Thank you needmorecoffee I wasn't sure if it was a bit early. The nurse said 'the only side effect we see if a lump in the arm'. Poor DS, am glad spent afternoon cuddling him then.

The sore arm is normal - probably a side effect of the tetanus.

Tiredness is possibly due to him not sleeping well if his arm was sore, rather than the jab itself. Squits - unlikely to be vaccine related, more likely to be the ibuprofen.

Give him regular calpol/ibuprofen to keep on top of any pain, rather than playing catch-up. A cold flannel on the sore arm can help too.

Should be better in 24-48 hours.
