Cancer - hair loss

My mum has triple negative breast cancer stage 2, she did use a cold cap at the hospital 2.5 weeks ago, but she thought they didn't turn it on properly, but the hospital said they did.

Anyway, she goes for her 2nd chemo later this week (every 3 weeks) and her hair has just started falling out in clumps.

I want to order her something to feel more confident, like a hat or something, but looking online there's many different types.

If you've had hair loss please can you tell me what type you liked the best? She still has some hair, shoulder length but honestly I think it will be all gone by the end of the week.

Appreciate any advice! I just don't want to order something that's not helpful

I had total hair loss with chemotherapy 2 years ago. I had a wig but hated it so wore lots of soft hats.
My favourites were cheap ebay ones I will see if they still have them .
With winter coming pull on beanies are good. A cashmere one was a lovely present.
By the way my grew back curly !
one type
The others I bought don’t seem to be on eBay but these are similar
I wish your mum all the very best , I have to say that losing my hair was
actually not as horrifying as I thought it would be .
Oh and I bought a sleep cap as my head got cold at night !
I must rush or I will be late for the gym!
PM me if I can be of further help. I wish your mum all the very best.

Oh my goodness, I just realised I forgot to reply. As soon as I saw your message the other day I went straight onto eBay and added loads to my basket.

Only 1 has arrived so far ( the cheapest I could find on eBay ) and she loves how comfortable and cooling it is, as she was finding her normal winter hats too hot!

Thank you so much, she has plenty more hats on the way, which hopefully she'll like just as much. I have ordered a wide range, including ones to sleep in, and some more fancier ones so she can wear them when she goes out for meals at the weekends etc as she wants to keep up her social life (usually a meal out once a week) to keep her motivated.

Amazingly she's only had 2 chemos now, and has her third the end of this month and then has her half way scan at the start of November, feels like she's flying through it, and then she's scheduled for surgery in January, and then will start radiation once she's had the surgery and is cancer free!

She hasn't got long to go until she's out the other end as she caught her cancer so small (2cm).

Thank you again for a lovely reply

I lost my hair with chemo. The hair doesn't properly re-grow until about 4 months after.
I hated scarves.
I bought two nice wigs (you get one on the NHS) but although I only wore them for going out they were worth having.
Most of the time hats are fine but if you want to go out in public somewhere nice and not look like a chemo patient a wig is useful.

I bought lots and lots of nice hats from Amazon and ebay.
Google chemo hats and muslim hats.
My favourite was a stretchy velvet one.

Ha! @Skap
Lovely to see you.
@dg93
Thanks for coming back to let me know how you got on. We are all different Skap loved her wigs and I hated mine!
Lots of lovely hats !
Give your mum our best wishes the cancer thread in General Health was of huge support to me.

I lost all my hair despite cold capping, as it doesn't work for everyone. I wear a mixture of soft caps and wigs. I tend to wear soft caps in the house and where I don't mind standing out. I wear wigs to blend into the background.

My NHS wig is similar to my natural hair but I bought myself a pink wig with grey roots which I wear when I'm out. The wigs are both rooted so look completely natural and are comfortable to wear.

I found losing my hair really hard and decided to cut it off myself, I just couldn't stand watching it coming out in handfuls every day.

Mine also came back curly, and strangely enough, with no grey!! (Non) Silver linings eh?
