What’s causing this back pain?

Started 10 days ago out of the blue. Never had back problems before. It’s in the middle of my lower back. Started like a dull ache. It’s ok when I’m upright and walking, doesn’t restrict my movement at all but sitting is uncomfortable.

I wouldn’t even say the pain is that bad - maybe 5 out of 10 - but I just can’t find a comfy sitting position. Firm chairs are better than a soft sofa though. I’m not taking anything for it as like I say it’s not really painful but mostly because I don’t want to mask the pain and potentially make it worse. I’m doing stretches but don’t know if they’re helping.

I’m not overweight. The only thing I can think is that I’ve been pretty careless with posture over the past few months and tend to work on my laptop sitting on a bed, or I can be a bit slouchy even on a computer. Could it be that? If so, what have I done?? I really want to nip it in the bud if I can!

Just go to an osteopath and they'll tell/fix you.

An osteo not a chiro or physio? Sorry to be ignorant, I just have no experience at all with backs!! Is the GP a waste of time? I don’t want to just be told to take painkillers.

Gp is definitely a waste of time imo, they just mask it with painkillers, don't deal with it in any way.

I've found osteopath much better than physio, I personally wouldn't go to a chiropractor at all over an osteopath.

Thank you. I really don’t know the difference between them all so it’s good to get some recommendations!
