Symptoms started two weeks ago..started with a big headache then went away with painkillers.. then a day later here are my symptoms:

constant lightheaded/dizzy
feeling of being on a rocky boat
on/ off pressure in head and sinuses
head & ear fullness
brain fog
cold feeling in one ear
ears feel like need popping

no hearing loss i dont feel like its menieres as it doesnt come on in attacks and im just constantly lightheaded . I am wobbly on my feet walking but sat still & driving im fine.
doc has prescribed anti sickness tablets and referred to ENT but said it could be labrynthitis, vestibulur neuritis or menieres ? I'm just at my wits end, getting depressed! Thankyou if any one reads

Sounds like vestibular neuritis to me if there is no hearing loss. I had it and sorry but it took about 6-8 weeks to go completely. It could also be a vestibular migraine, especially as it started with a headache. Although if its been going on for 2 weeks that's unlikely. Surprised the GP referred you to ENT. It's likely to be caused by a virus and will eventually go away by itself. It's horrible though, you have my sympathy.

Have you looked at BPPV?

SummerHouse · 01/10/2021 17:08

If it comes on with movement could be positional vertigo. Hang on will Google correct title...

Thanks the doc said it's not BPPV but could be one of the ones I listed. Or maybe post vaccine inflammation? But either way I'm doing all I can taking supplements too to help my body

I had labyrinthitis - 2 weeks of similar symptoms to yours, then a slow improvement. Overall my balance took over a year to go back to normal. There was never any talk of referrals to ENT though. OP are you sure you are OK to drive? From the point of view of notifying the dvla I mean.

Knittedfairies · 01/10/2021 20:13

I was going to suggest labyrinthitis too. Hope you feel better soon OP.

SkinPaperThin · 01/10/2021 20:27

Yeah I have menieres and I'm pretty deaf. If no hearing loss then it will fortunately be more likely to be something that will eventually clear up by itself. It can take a quite a while though with labyrinthitis or vestibular neuritis.

Lessthanaballpark · 01/10/2021 20:34

Oh you poor thing. I had this a few years ago and it was hellish.

When it cleared up I felt so happy. There are some anti-travel sickness tablets that help but the best thing is time.

I found mine was better in the evening.

Fortunately it hasn’t come back.

Just hang in there OP and get a referral to ENT

I would just warn that the medication for nausea/vertigo should be taken very sparingly as it can make it take longer to recover. Its hard but the best thing you can do is go about your daily life and try to ignore the awful seasickness type feeling. It's the best way to retrain your vestibular system. But also take it easy and rest lots. I found looking at screens or scrolling the worst thing to do.

Thanks everyone really lifted my spirits it's Just so hard as I'm a single mother too. I think my gp referred me to ent as if it's not that they will send me to long half Covid clinic for tests I'm was taking prochloperazine @Kittii but now taking cinnarizine so hoping that helps ! Xx
