Private healthcare- 5 day wait for virtual GP appointment?!

Hi I have had private healthcare for a year and not yet had to use it. I now need an appointment for something quite acute (but not an emergency) and find the nearest time I can be seen (virtually at that) is in 5 days!! I was under the impression that part of what I’m paying a, not inconsiderable, sum for is to be able to access immediate, or at least very timely healthcare whenever needed?
I feel like I should complain but I’ve never had private healthcare before, have I got my expectations wrong?

I don't think so, but it depends who your work use. I got an appointment in less than 1 hour with mine & was also given alternative time slots throughout the day. I booked mine by an app.

We have Bupa cover and I can go online and request a GP appointment and it's always within the hour. Who's your insurer?

Agree, who's the insurer? AXA is within 1-2 hours even on a Saturday, loads of slots.

I’m with vitality and you book the appointment through an app. I was expecting as you’ve described - within an hour or two, or at least the same morning/afternoon. Maybe I’ve done something wrong, as the other couple of people I’ve spoken to also say appointments within an hour/2hours.
I’ve ended up having a virtual appointment & prescription through the nhs.

In that case I'd contact customer service and ask.

Not all plans necessarily include private GP - at my old work you'd either go NHS but ask for a private referral, or you could pay yourself for a private GP appointment to get a referral. In either case they would then cover some or all specialist costs, so long as it was within your policy.
