PCV booster and MMR

Ive had a letter from the docs asking to bring ds2 in for these. I can't even remember what the pcv jab is, can anyone enlighten me? Also do these have to be done at the same time? I am planning on having the seperate jabs done privately so can i just take him along and get the pcv done on it's own?

Pneomochochal (sp?) It suprised me too. I would have thought MMR was enough on it's own!

It's a booster of one DS will have already had under the new regime.

My friend's DD had these two done at the same time - it was just down to timing as they aren't always done together. My DD had just the MMR done on it's own and the pneumococcal done a month before - it was the last of three courses of it.

Had a bit of a shock when poor DD1's pre-school booster slip came through the post. There were so many to do that the list of abbreviations took up two lines . She had two jabs (one in each leg) one was MMR (remembering that is three things in itself), the other side was typhoid, diptheria, polio, men C and at least one other I think. I was amazed she had no reaction whatsoever.

Don't see why you can't just have the pneumococcal done on it's own if you plan to do the MMR privately but I have no experience of this. If I was you I'd phone the surgery and ask.

The PCV and MMR are routinely given together, that is how the schedule is. If you plan to give single MMR still go along and have the PCV and explain you are having the singles. Should be no problem. The PCV isn't a booster it is the 3rd of a course of 3.

I will phone them in the morning, thanks for the advice

Thinking about it I think laylaandsethsmum is correct in saying they are routinely given together. I think in my case it was different as the pcv had only just been introduced and our surgery was behind schedule so we had to wait a bit longer to have ours done.

Yes,they are given together-my poor dd is getting hers today!

not sure whether to get the mmr done altogether, but feel a bit bad doing that as ds 1 had his done separately.

Hi Lazawreath, my dd had the mmr and pcv jabs a couple of weeks ago and she seems fine.
