Little bumps or cysts on head of baby. What and why?

One of my friends had a baby boy in July 2004 so he is sort of 4 months old now.

He has little bumps or lumps or cysts under the skin on his head.

The first one was at the back and has started to get a bit bigger. This was there at/or soon after BIRTH

They are hard like a pea.

They will move about a little bit under the skin.

GP says he doesn't know what they are but "probably nothing"

Baby has no hair just like his 2 year old sister.
My friend is very worried esp as few more have started to appear.

Baby is thriving and putting on loads weight, smiling laughing etc.

Does anyone have any experience of simular or same things with DS or DD?

Has anyone seen anything like it at all please?

There has been a slight hitch, my friend ended up in hospital having her appendix out in emergancy op.

She is home now but her DS probs will have to wait until she is back on her feet.

Thanks for asking JuniperDewdrop

Will let you all know when she gets to see someone.
