i'm new to this site but have found it very informative and fun. i've learnt loads of intersting stuff that i wish i'd known before dds were born. anyway, my eldest dd who is 7 has quite a lot of small white spots almost like goosebumps on her upper arms. they dont hurt her or change in appearnace but look a bit unsightly and make the texture of the skin quite rough. she's had them for quite a while . i took her to the gp who thought it may be eczema and prescribed oilatum which didnt help a bit but made bath time a bit of a slippery adventure! any of you clever mummies have any ideas/ suggestions?

The spots sound like these funny white spots a friend of mine has on his face. sort of like tiny whiteheads around his eyes. But not pimples, not anything.

friend does suffer from eczema...
but the spots seem to come and go in size, and they honestly never bother him.

Friend says he dug one out, one time (ooh.... gross! Anyway, like I said, they don't seem to mean anything.

Thanks zebra and sue w for your help. Thankfully it doesnt look like molluscum whatyermercallit which looks a bit fierce and scary. They are much less noticeable than that. Perhaps I should try and get dd referred to a dermatologist but I feel a bit reluctant to make a big thing out of something which I am sure is merely cosmetic. Its difficult being a mummy sometimes...........

Welcome!

I also have these goosebumps on my upper arms. I think my mother took me to the dr when I was little and he said it was just underactive sweat glands, and quite common. I always find mine gets better in the summer as I sweat more. In the winter I just rub with a loofah in the bath (when I have time!) and moisturise (again when I have time!).

It's never bothered me and doesn't hurt. My dd also has dry skin on her upper arms, but doesn;t seem to bother her. I wouldn't worry about it if it doesn't bother her.

thanks titchy. It sounds similar to what you are describing. Glad that, like dd, the spots don't bother you and its nice to know that they dont cause a problem.
