Hi,I posted last week about a rash and spots that appeared all over my body apart from my face and neck.

I had had a cold and chesty cough which I still have and went to the doctors on Tuesday.

He thought it was ethier a post viral infection or chickenpox.
The spots were'nt yellow and fluid though so most likely the viral infection.

Anyway he gave me some anti hisitamines and some cream to stop the itching .

But have noticed have patches of dark bruising appear on the tops of my legs.

Anyone know why this would happen, could it be anything to do with the tablets or cream?

I remember your thread. Were you scratchin the spots a lot? scartching can cause bruising if it is intense scratching

HI belgo-yes I have been scratching rather a lot, trying not to but it is driving me mad.
They are a dark purple ,black colour and only seem to have appeared at the tops of my legs.

The anti hisitamines(sp) don't seem to be doing much.
He said there was a mixture of spots and a rash and could not prescribe steroid cream as he was not entirley sure what it was.
Was told to go back after a week if they don't improve.

The doctor was a locum at my usual surgery and he said himself he was a bit baffled.
So will have to wait and see.

Dinosaur-thanks for the reassurance.
I have been googling and getting myself all worked up.

I think you had your mil staying at the weekend - how was it?

If you haven't had a chance to rest, it's no wonder you're not better yet.

Do not google, and try not to worry

heavy scratching can break the tiny cappillary blood vessels at the surface of your skin, which cause a small amount of surface bleeding, which is why it looks like dark purple bruising.

Hi belgo ,thanks for that.

The weekend went ok although I did all the cooking and was a tad nervous as MIL is such a good cook and cooks everything from scratch.

Also the children played up a bit and were all excitable and she obviously had some strong views on how to handle them.
My DH was ultra stressed all weekend as well and a tad grumpy so all in all was glad when it was over.

The childen have been off school the last 2 days with a cough and cold so have been dealing with them also.
Have no one nearby to help out.
Also DH not home until about 7-8pm due to his 2-3nightly meetings in the pub.

They both have loads going on at school next week so busy orgainising costumes etc.

My son has selective mutism and we have had to cancel his appointment for tomorrow at the clinic due to him and me feeling unwell and have a school meeting next week to discuss DS's statement .

So all in all no time to rest.

Sorry that turned into a bit of a rant.

That feels better belgo ,to get that all off my chest

Makes sense about the bruising ,am probably scratching like mad in bed at night when I'm half asleep.
