help! my ds who is nearly 2 has recently had a wart cut off his back by our GP.

Last night when i was bathing him I noticed there are now about 5 tiny pale coloured warts near the same place. I;ve mnade an appointment at the dr, but don't really want him having them all cuyt out and being scarred on his back....

anyone else have any experience with this?

thanks

Are they sure they are warts? DS 5 and DD1 3y have a thing called molluscum, one on the back of their knee and one on inside of elbow , which are very small white warts. If it is these they are a viral thing common in young children and only really cause probs if they get associated excema. all the reading i have done suggest that in the case of molluscum then just to leave them rather than risk scaring as they resolve spontaneously in a couple of years. Thay can be infectious though.. Good luck whatever it is and hope DS is ok x

Sounds very much like molluscum, which my dd has as well. I have read they tend to develop in "vulnerable" areas of skin - eg in our case, where her skin has thinned a little with exczema (or with the steroid cream we occasionally use for it?). Perhaps that is why they have developed where your ds had the wart cut off.
We were told just to leave them and they will go away on their own. I am told they are contagious but we can't really keep her away from other children for 2 years!

Thanks - I've been reasing up on Molloscum and it seems that they are only infectious if scratched at and the inside comes out (eughhh). I'll just make sure he doesn't share towels with his older brother.
Luckily being on his back and with him still being little enough to wear bodysuits, he can't get at them to scratch. Also, one treatment that "apparently" seems to work is to put urine on them! Gross......will see if i can bring myself to do it. poor baby!

My little boy's back was covered with these things from about 18 months onwards, I think these could have been the molluscum thing can't remember now, anyhow the doctor didn't do anything about them, he said they only had around a 2 year life span and sure enough they virtually went overnight, although I do remember them getting a bit bloody and scabby when they were going. He does have a couple of little scars on his back (like chickenpox scars) where some of the big ones were but that's about it.

how long did he have them Oljam? they just look so awful
