Nursing with physical disability

Hi are there any nurses out there with a physical disability that can affect mobility?

Thinking of going into career but I do get pain in my foot after long hours of weight bearing.

Any help or tips would be greatly received thanks

Hi HSlate2,
I would love to know this too, as I find it difficult to stand for long periods also. Hopefully some kind mumsnetters give us the answers we need 🙏
My DH works in a hospital and he has said that a few nurses that have physical disabilities can sit down and rest for a while if they're in pain. I would love to start a career in nursing but this does put me off unfortunately 😭

I have no personal experience but when I was in hospital towards the end of my second pregnancy there was a teaching midwife who I think had cerebral palsy or another condition that affected her muscle coordination. She was quite senior so it didn't seem to have affected her career too much.

It depends on the type of nursing. Some kinds of nursing are a lot more “sit downy” than others. I have a physical disability which means adult ward nursing would be hard but mental health nursing (especially community) is fine.
