i know they are supposed to go away on their own eventually - but he's got a massive 'outy' one on his toe that's a bit uncomfortable, and like me the poor boy is very prone to warty viruses taking years to go. he's taking thuja morning and night but any other tried and tested remedies gratefully received!

I didn't know they were supposed to go away on their own.
We got special plasters from the chemist which cleared up verrucas within a fortnight.

Have you tried the Bazooka stuff they advertise on telly?
Or I believe I read about someone (might have been cod actually) using a product that freezes them and then they die and fall off after a short while. Made by Scholl as opposed to the Wartner one which they said didn't work.
What is thuja?

BrandyButterGalore · 05/12/2007 19:09

yes, the stuff cod said to freeze it off.

she told me to do it, and was right ( )

i have some left over in fact as only required one go (and it was mahoosive)

would you like me to send it to you?

you do have to hold screaming uncomprehending child down while you torture cure them, but it doesnt take long.

Banana skin - stick to the toe at night, every night for a few weeks and apparently it works!

tried and tested - duct tape - guaranteed to work though it does take time. i got rid of one I'd had for nigh on 15 years in less than 2 months, so kids ones should heal faster.
put duct tape over verruca so no air can get in. if tape falls off, replace tape. just keep replacing the tape so no air can get in and veruuca will die of starvation (apparently) eventually. the following extract was taken from here

Tape
A recent study found that covering a wart with strong adhesive tape is likely to clear the wart within a month or two. (Duct tape was used in the study.) In this study, about 7 in 10 warts had cleared within two months with using duct tape. It may be worth a try as it is painless. However, further studies are needed to clarify the role of this treatment. The method described in the study was:

The wart was covered with duct tape for six days. If the tape fell off during this time a fresh piece of tape was put on.
After six days, the tape was removed and the wart soaked in warm water for five minutes. After drying it was then gently rubbed with an emery board or pumice stone to get rid of dead tissue from the top of the wart.
The wart was then left uncovered overnight and duct tape put on again the next day.
Treatment was continued for up to two months. (Note: most warts that cleared with duct tape did so within 28 days.)
Some experts advise that you should not use duct tape on the face as in some people it can irritate the skin.

Freezing, either by GP or try the home kit.

My sister used to dig all of mine out with a needle whilst I watched Saturday morning TV. I don't recommend that.

Lol, if dp had his way the worlds problems could be fixed with silicon sealent he did suggest it for my verruca, though i didn't try it.

stripeymama · 06/12/2007 07:57

The sort I buy is actually called Duck Tape, though to me its gaffer tape.

Tis wonderful stuff - my ex fixed his broken toe with it in the wilds o' Wales.

Off to try it on my cluster of verrucae.

LadySanders · 07/12/2007 10:10

thank you will work my way thru the list of suggestions!

Blimey banana skin can do everything. It ripens tomatoes; the other day I saw a garden which had the skins regularly distributed along the flowerbed (not sure why); and now I learn that it cures veruccas.

LadySanders · 07/12/2007 10:24

bananas confuse me: smell gorgeous, taste horrible.

Am roffling at all the DHs thinking that gaffer tape and silicon sealant are magic panaceas for all ills. That's pretty much my DH too.

DD2 has horrible verrucas which just won't go. Have bazooka-ed them to hell and gone but they just come right back. Am on a mission to find the Scholl stuff now.
