Is this plantar fasciitis or something else?

I have a mortons neoroma on one foot that sometimes flairs up but is manageable at the moment. On the other foot I have pain underneath on the heel. I've had this for about a month after stupidly wearing some heels.I've had it about a month. I self diagnosed as plantar fasciitis and thought it would get better but it hasn't snd I'm going on holiday tomorrow. So it hurts everytime I walk on it, worse after rest, but it is only on the heel not the arch, tried ibuprofen gel and that doesn't work. Any tips to help in the short term.

Google stretching exercises. You need to stretch he foot every morning before you get out of bed and constantly through the day. Stretch out your calves. Get insoles in a chemist but go to a podiatrist when you get back from your holiday. Freeze a bottle of water and roll it under your foot. Hope you have a good holiday

Watch Bob and Brad the most famous physical therapists on the net if only for their hilarious jingle

If it is plantar fasciitis then calf stretches may help quite a bit. Google calf stretch, and also ones called "heel dips".

Also stretch your calves in the morning when lying in bed before you first put your feet on the floor.

I second (,third) Bob and Brad.
I had PF for about 18 months. Spent loads on proper orthotic insoles etc. Nothing.
Was cured by Fitflop Rally trainers and Skechers.

I have skechers go walk which help, can't wear the go walk trainers as they cause my mortons neuroma to flair up. I've tried insoles that have been recommended, but if anything it makes it worse. Obviously I need to see a podiatrist when I'm back. Also tried Fitflops but can't seem to get on with them. I've got some good flipflops that somebody recommended on here which are for athletic recovery ones, but they don't look very nice.

If it is really awful try taping your foot I think Bob and Brad have a video on that and they are they most famous physical therapists on the internet

Imtoooldforallthis · 16/09/2021 09:16

Having looked at Bob and Brad I don't think it's plantar fasciitis as I have no arch pain, I think it's a fat pad problem, anyone else have that?

Mine was in my heel. I would discount that bit and try the stretches

Plantar fasciitis pain occurs at the heel and arch.

Morton's neuroma pain occurs when pushing forward off the toes.

Fat pad atrophy can worsen the pain from Morton's neuromas because there's no 'cushioning' for the heads of the metatarsal bones - the neuromas have no protection at all.

I've had injections into my heel and between the toes, as well as custom orthotics.

The pain is absolutely miserable - there's no way to lessen the load on the feet and it doesn't matter how you try, the pain is there 24/7.

I adore Bob & Brad, too.

PF can take a while to get better. Heel lifts (B&B recommend?) helped me a lot, though. Stretches don't make much difference for me probably it's my hamstrings that are tight not calves.

This is something that needs active treatment rather than passive rest. A golf ball rolled under the foot from ball to heel will help get the floodflow going and remove scar tissue.
