Hi, can anyone recommend something to help me please. I fall asleep easily at first but if woken in the night (easily woken, live on main road, have a 3 year old and always wee at least once at night) I really struggle to go back to sleep! Sometimes taking hours. I feel like I'm awake every night between 3am - 5/6am.
I am female, age 38.
I don't want to be totally knocked out as I need to hear my 3 year old obviously and don't want to feel drowsey by day but I really want to be able to fall back to sleep easily.
Any recommendations please?
Thanks for your help.

Sometimes it is very hard to sleep at midnight. Because you wake up from the bed due to some distracting sounds or any other noise. You live on the main road, so you are always hearing vehicle noise. My small suggestion for your smooth sleep is, just put cotton in your both ear's before going to sleep in your bed. This will be useful to avoid hearing the outdoor noise. Another thing, do some simple workouts in the morning time. It will help to give you deep in the night.

No pills help with remain asleep all night. They all focus on getting you to sleep in the first place.

The only one that does help is amitriptyline but it comes with side effects although on the positive side, it can prescribed longer term.

The best method is training your brain to associate going back to sleep with a signal, usually breathing methods. It can take some time to get there, and doesn't work 100% of the time, but it does work.

I’ve started taking Nytol 25mg. I’ve found that they have really helped. I do feel quite woozy the next day though.

Phenergan is good, you have to ask the chemist for it but don't need a prescription. It's actually an antihistamine and I use it in the summer for chronic allergies.

I agree your comment, taking pills gives good results, at the same time it will make some side effects. So following some natural methods will surely gives good results.

I would try a magnesium supplement first, as it helps relax your central nervous system and muscles, has many benefits and non addictive.
Take one a day, after your evening meal.
