Maryland bridge for back teeth

I had a tooth (top, second from back) removed a few months ago. My dentist is suggesting a Maryland bridge to avoid the damage to the adjacent teeth that a traditional bridge would cause.
He’s said the metal wings would be visible and he’d have to build up some of the other teeth to adjust my bite.
I’m absolutely terrified that
a. The metal will look worse than the gap &
b. The bite adjustment will uncomfortable.
Has anyone else experienced this treatment and how did it go?
Thanks in advance 😊

The metal clips aren't that noticeable. Adjusting the bite is normal with most dental procedures. Depends how you feel about a gap, as it's so far back.

@Ludo19 thanks. Be said the wings would cover the bite surface and “roof of the mouth” surface which has confused me a lot! I just thought the wings went on the back of the adjacent teeth.
The gap shows when I smile widely but not when speaking. I’m very self conscious if it.

It's only a partial plate, is that right? So if you can imagine like a wee semi circle on the area where the bridge would be to the side of the palate. Has your dentist not mentioned a small plate with one tooth on it? It would just slot in and the tiny plate part pink so not noticeable against the palate.

@Ludo19 no it’s not a plate. It’s a Maryland bridge with wings either side

I had a Maryland Bridge to replace a missing premolar, which is the tooth behind the canine/eyetooth, so it was quite near the front. Nobody could tell it wasn't a normal tooth, there was only a wing on either side attaching it to the back of the adjacent teeth, so nothing could be seen. It felt fine, and actually lasted for forty years! The only reason it came out as because the tooth it was attached to came out a couple of weeks ago!
