I have seen some sulphur soap that has good reviews and am wondering if it is worth it?

I have this and all my family on my mum's side. There is no cure unfortunately the only good news is it calms down when you are about age 40 my skin is lovely now pity it wasn't in my 20s/30s.

The only thing that calms it is lots of moisturising and perhaps sunshine. I found that on holiday it seemed to disappear as I was applying lots of sun lotion and after sun.

I learned to accept my skin as it was and didn't bother with constant creams so I can't recommend any. But beauty experts like Sali Hughes recommend moisturisers containing AHAs so i would google her recommendations and give them a go. I'm just too lazy to stick to a beauty regime. Good luck.

Sunshine really helps. Mine is much less when I have a bit if a tan. (not less obvious - physically less)

I'be had this all my life. DS2 has it too. I swear by Soap & Glory The Scrub of Your Life, used every 1-2 days to get it under control, and then just as necessary. And I use a body cream after it. Anything with (synthetic) urea in it is good, the higher the percentage, the thicker it is and therefore harder to spread and sink in. Garner do a 5% urea moisturiser in a 400ml or so bottle, and it is really good.

CeraVe SA smoothing cream might help

DoraDont · 10/09/2021 11:44

I use Ameliorate, it definitely helps. I suffered really badly with KP on my arms throughout my teens and twenties, improved slightly in my thirties and now in my late forties has completely gone. Unfortunately my 7yo also has it, poor girl.

Menopause. My arms are lovely and soft now...(Tho tbh I’d rather be pre menopause with rough skin!)

Another vote for CeraVe SA smoothing cream!

I've used eucerin, cerave, ameliorate, scrubs, changing my diet. None of it worked 😢. Only thing that makes a real difference to my skin is moisturiser (it doesn't get rid of the bumps but it smoothes) and sunshine. I'm in my 40s and have had it all my life - as a kid it was on my face, arms, back of shoulders, bum and thighs. I don't have it on my face any more and it's definitely lessened everywhere else but still definitely there. It's a bugger.

CrumbleLady · 10/09/2021 12:12

Ameliorate user here too. The thick one in the tub is best but it can be quite heavy on the skin.
I use the thinner cream in the tube daily and the thick one once a week or so.

Some people have had success with Flexitol Heel Balm, believe it or not.

KittenKong · 10/09/2021 16:30

Can’t quite get my head around how moisturiser works on this - but I know on my head that it is supposed to work! It’s not me - it’s DS and his upper arms are really bad (as you can imagine, getting a teenage boy to moisturise is like teaching a dog to read).
