Constantly bruising badly

Wondering if anyone has any advice.

I'm 28 so certainly not of a mature age, yet for the past few years, my legs have been bruising so badly after the slightest bumps. Currently I have 18 bruises across both thighs, ranging for larger pitch black ones to smaller purple ones - but I have no recollection of bumping them at all! I never used to have this in my early twenties and making me extremely self conscious and worried about it being a deeper problem. I have thread veins on one thigh which I realise might make this area more prone to bruising.

Is there any cream that will thicken my skin or prevent the clots from forming unnecessarily? Is this something I should go to the GP about as a sign about something else?

There can be several causes or no cause at all. Best bet would be to discuss it with your gp , they might run a few blood tests.

OP are your legs heavier than the rest of your body? I had bruising like this and was diagnosed with lipoedema last year. It’s a disease where the fat on your legs becomes trapped in connective tissue and your body can’t recognise it as fat any more. You can’t lose it with diet or exercise and it bruises very easily and is sometimes also tender/sore.
I am stage one and a size 10, but always heavier on legs than top half. Some women have much bigger legs (usually later stages) but stage 1 is often hard to see unless you know what you’re looking for.

I'm definitely slim but pear shaped - legs aren't huge by any means (I'm 4'11 and 7.8 Stone) but definitely are the curviest/jiggliest part of me - will look into this! Think a GP and a blood test might be the way forward.

I'm 55 and have bruised easily since my teens.
I've had blood tests but nothing came up. I've currently got 15 bruises on my legs, 9 on my arms and 4 on my body. And also have no idea how I've got 95% of them. The other 5% were done by nothing more than leaning my leg on a foot stool.
I very rarely wear skirts and dresses because my legs are such a bruised mess.
My legs are slim by the way, always have been.
I hope you get more answers than I ever have.

Bruising suggests your blood is clotting too slowly rather than too much/too quickly.

Are you taking any medication for other conditions? Some drugs (e.g. diuretics) can cause thrombocytopaenia (lack of platelets) as a side-effect and consequently cause bruising.

Definitely worth checking in with your GP & getting full blood count, iron blood tests & your clotting function checked.

You should see a GP really, although unlikely it could be something serious, or something not serious but easy to fix e.g. vitamin deficiency.

Take a photo of it when bad and see the GP.

@Gensola can you please message me re your diagnosis. And plans for treatment. I would be very grateful. I'm sure I have this too. (Mum has it horrendously)
