Weird noises in chest

I had a cold about 3 weeks ago that completely cleared up around 2 weeks ago.

However since then at night when I am lay in bed I can hear gunk/phlegm on my chest. It makes a noise when I breathe in. It only ever happens lay in bed. Has anyone had this? What causes it and why can I not get rid of it?

I am going to my doctor this week anyway for something unrelated so I will tell them but just wondered if anyone else has had this as a result of a cold and what stopped it. It was a cild and definitely not covid, I tested negative.

So I had a chest xray a week ago just as routine after the cold I had. This afternoon they called me from the gp surgery to say they needed to repeat it in 6 weeks. It was the receptionist who rang me and when I asked why she said it was just something they did usually. I asked if I should book an appt with the doctor to discuss but she said no.

I am still trying to get an appt to see the doctor this week for an unrelated issues (hrt) so I will try and ask if I can get in. She couldn’t make me an appointment, I have to call at 8am and try to get an available appointment,

However, I am left really worried now. Is this normal? Surely they don’t repeat them if there is nothing of concern?

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it the norm?

It sounds like you just have rubbish on your chest. Most nights I'm like this, particularly this time of year or the month after a cold, but I'm asthmatic and colds go onto my chest.
Don't worry, your Doctor just sounds very thorough and because this is new for you it is being checked, just go to whatever tests they send you to.
If the rattle is annoying, sleep on your side or proper up by an extra pillow.

Thank you. I am not asthmatic but I do have rubbish on my chest.

My doctor doesn’t know about the rattling, noises yet though. Well it sounds like a snore from my chest! Would it show on an xray if I had rubbish on my chest?

I will do any tests that they want to do, I am keen to sort this. Thanks for the tip, I will try propping up with an extra pillow. If I lie on my side it does still happen.
