My 6 year old DS recently had a spectacularly gashed forehead. Stitches are now out, and we have a 3 inch long bright pink scar above his eyebrow. The hospital were reassuring that it will fade over a period of 12-18 months, but I just wondered if anyone had any experience with a "miracle scar cream". Its a flat scar, not a keloid-type one.

Anything reasonable considered (other than the "Norfolk folk remedies" so beloved of my late grandparents).

Never actually tried it, but have heard that Bio-oil is very good for scars and stretch marks.

Ooh, yes, hadn't thought of Bio-Oil.

DH has a colleague who swears by homeopathic remedies. I understand her to also be French and attractive. DH gets all misty eyed and keeps saying "She looks so well on it". Apparently she is going to recommend some special homeopathic creams

I buy vitamin E capsules, prick them with a pin and rub a drop of the oil onto the scar.
Every night and you need to do it for a good long while.
Seemed to help Ds2 when he had a pirate type scar across his cheek.

They do fade anyway. I had a spectaculaly bright red CS scar that I thought would never go, but 2.5 years on it's pretty much invisible.

You could also try Moa Green Balm (it's herbal). Seemed to work on my ds2's football scar.

Apparently, they use it in on burns and scars in hospitals in Iceland.

I used palmers scar serum on my stretch marks - it was pretty good

I'm sure it will fade in time - just looks so garish at the moment. Hospital said vaseline would do the trick, but I'm sure DS is worthy of something a bit more fancy.

I just wanted to have some ideas so that whan DH comes home with the recommendation of Mlle Radiant French-Bint, I could laugh and say briskly "oh, thats all taken care of already"
