I'm waiting for an NHS appointment but will physio fix this or will I need surgery?

Is anyone an Orthopedic Surgeon?

Dr here not a surgeon but it will depend on symptoms really.
The tear can’t be “fixed” by physio but they can certainly help restore function if that’s the issue.
A surgeon may/may not do an arthroscope and get rid of the torn part.
It depends on context and symptoms.
If you were an athlete for a national team you’d have surgery for sure, just depends on how it’s effecting you really.

As above, context is everything.

Depends on age, symptoms and duration.

there's a world of difference between a traumatic tear from contact sport in a 21 year old, and a degenerate tear from standing up too quick in a 74 year old.

I’ve got a really bad knee too, waiting on ortho and the frustration of not knowing what to do whilst I wait is really getting to me. Hopefully you will get some answers soon op, I know I’m in continuous pain it’s not nice, also off work (nurse)

For context, hurt my knee about 3 weeks ago but it's been locked ( I can't straighten it) for about 3 and 1/2 weeks.
I am not an athlete but a fit and heathy 35 year old.
I hurt it by running.... I've never run before but thought I would get a little fitter. This was my first run and I only ran for about 10 minutes before hurting my knee.
