I am very overweight but since having my daughter 5 years ago ,and before that too, I have a variety of symptoms that I feel should something is wrong but I worry the drs will say its down to me being so overweight and so because of this I haven't gone to drs.
Symptoms are:
Dreadful period cramps
Dioreah due to period.
Back ache on run up to period and during.
Dragging pain in back of legs.
Pelvis and hip pain all during period.
Massive fatigue. Today day two of period I've had all of tje above and had to have a three hour nap I felt so exhausted.
I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility. Before that I had the dye put in you to check your tubes. Would this have shown it up?
Dd was a "suprise" after fertility treatment etc failed.

I have mentalnhealth issues and cannot bare to go to the drs and be knocked back about it and my weight.

I'm really sorry but I do think you need to go to the doctor, not because the symptoms sound worrying but because we can't possibly say what they could be.

You could be up front and say that you're worried about being dismissed because of your weight, that the weight is long term but these sy.ptoms are new.

Try to let your doctor help you.

Im scared of doctors too. My childhood doctor is in prison now! I find it helps to explain I am scared of gps when I enter the room and it has taken a lot for me to attend, then i read out my written list of symptoms write and pass it over otherwise Im too stressed to rememver them all. So your post is your list. You are halfway there. If i can take a friend i will. I also make sure I have some free time after the appointment to have some time to process it rather than rushing straight to work. I can be shakey after.

I have endo and it does sound very similar to that but I am not medically qualified

NotThatSocial · 31/08/2021 08:05

I used to have all of those symptoms and more with my periods. I had investigations and no endometriosis was found, however the Mirena coil has made the world of difference for me. I'd still like to know why my periods are so horrendous without it and am thinking of going back to the dr again but at least I've found some relief.

Hi op I have endo and my symptoms sound similar to yours. However you do need to see a professional to look at treatment options, whether you like your doctor or not unfortunately. It really is a battle to get these kind of things investigated but you need to stand your ground.
I've had this disease for 20 years and you won't want to hear this but before I had ds I had a very healthy lifestyle and it was easier to control. I wasnt carrying any extra weight and I was doing lots of exercise. Cutting out certain foods really helped too ( sugar and processed food) . I'm not being unsympathetic believe me ice heard every fob off in the book but as I understand it, it has a lot to do with hormones and these can become unbalanced if you are overweight.

itsgettingwierd · 31/08/2021 08:20

You could print out the op and take with you.

Hand to the GP and ask them to read (rewrite it as a letter to the gp)

I have gynae problems and they are horrid. Affect every part of your life and MH.

Thank you everyone. I really appreciate it. Our Drs won't see people face to face so over the phone makes it even more difficult.

To get Endo diagnosed properly the only real way is to have a laparoscopy. Doctors are very hesitant to go down this route on NHS as expensive and a diagnosis of Endo isn't really the end to the issue.

Are you still TTC ? I have been pain free for 10 years by taking cerazette without a break in between packets. Obviously not right for everyone but there are options that can be explored even without a formal diagnosis.

Can you do an e consult? I find it much easier to put it down in words and you've done an excellent clear OP.

Or send a letter to the surgery explaining it and asking for an appointment by phone and they'll already have that information.

GPs are seeing people face to face but usually triaging by phone or video first.
