Dental so fed up.

I moved to Somerset just before covid started - got an NHS promotion.
Then covid exploded onto the scene.
I could not find a dentist for love nor money up here so hung onto my Sussex dentist just in case of emergencies.
Before covid I'd go to the dentist every 3 months to the hygeinist (I'm 60) and have regular check ups.
Since covid I'd had no end of dental abcesses and have lost two teeth as there has been NO dental care available at all, I desperately need to see the hygeinist, there is nothing going in Somerset so I have had to drive 4 hours back to my old dentist for basic care.
I woke up two days ago to another stonking abcess, a massively swollen face and a big swollen tongue.
I got my Sussex dentist to do a private prescription and email it to the pharmacy but I'm going to need yet another dental implant and two courses of antibiotics.
I'm sick and tired of driving 4 hours there and 4 hours back just to see a dentist.
Minor injuries will no longer prescribe antibiotics for dental and 111 won't if you have a dentist elsewhere in the country.
My dental health is becoming critical.
Anyone else have no dental care where they are?

Sorry to hear this OP
I can't find a dentist who will see me just for a check up and it's been a few years now because of lockdown

I want my kids to be seen but all the local ones are saying now.

It seems like no one cares to be honest! But with your issues I would think it's an emergency and surely someone would see you.

I don't know what to suggest - could a GP help to get you referred somehow?

Wishing you lots of luck I hope you find some help soon Thanks

Your local dental hospital/school of dentistry should see emergencies. I know that doesn't completely solve your issue though.
