Pharmacy says go to walk in but I'm on my own with 3 kids and worried it'll take hours with it being a bank holiday. It appeared couple of days ago and is causing him discomfort but not pain.

If you were very confident you could burst it yourself and it would likely get better on it's own.

Given it sounds like you aren't, you need to go to the walk-in and it can't wait.

PeonyTime · 28/08/2021 11:28

Do you know how it happened? It looks like a blister?? Has he burnt it?
And how old is DS?
Is it growing? Getting redder? Staying the same?

AnnaMagnani · 28/08/2021 11:29

Oh and bear in mind most walk-ins aren't walk-ins anymore with Covid so you need to ring to get an appointment.

museumum · 28/08/2021 11:31

What is it? Blister? Wart? Infected cut/splinter?

Choconuttolata · 28/08/2021 11:35

What is it? If infection then needs walk in for antibiotics.

jellybe · 28/08/2021 11:47

Our walk in is still a walk in. Though if a blister I'd soak it in the hots that he can stand with salt in and then in the water lance it with a sterile needle.

SnarkyBag · 28/08/2021 11:51

I’d probably follow the advice of the pharmacist rather than randoms on the Internet telling you to Lance it yourself Hmm

Hours at the walk in on a bank holiday with 3 kids isn’t ideal but that’s parenting when one of them need medical attention.if you need another opinion before making up your mind call 111.

Rainallnight · 28/08/2021 11:57

I have absolutely no medical training at all. But if not were me in your shoes, I’d contact the GP on Monday. He’s had it for a couple of days already and presumably been ok?

ClemDanFango · 28/08/2021 12:00

You’re unlikely to have a quicker wait in A&E

WaterIsBest · 28/08/2021 12:01

DO NOT POP IT YOURSELF

Christ, Why do people think they are medically qualified to diagnose someone on an internet forum

Follow the advice of the pharmacist
Not random people on here

AtomHeartMotherOfGod · 28/08/2021 12:10

I definitely wouldn't go to A&E. You'd risk being continuously shunted down the queue unless by amazing fortune there's a 3-4 hour gap with really minor ailments coming into triage.

Alternatively as PP says, go to GP for treatment if it's not causing him pain.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 28/08/2021 12:13

Ask a friend to have your other two children and take him to the walk-in clinic. Please follow the pharmacists advice and not people on MN

Hellocatshome · 28/08/2021 12:14

What is it? Did the pharmacy explain what they thought ot was and why they though walk in was needed?

nocoolnamesleft · 29/08/2021 22:18

Usually best to go with the advice of the HCP who has actually seen the child.

otherstuffteam · 29/08/2021 22:27

What happened OP? Hope your DS is ok

Elouera · 29/08/2021 22:31

The part of the photo we really need to see is blurred!!! Confused

Is that a black thumb nail or a blister? Without a clear pic, we are all just guessing. Can you post a pic with the thumb in focus?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 29/08/2021 22:43

Really confusing photo, what is it and what caused it?
