Dyspraxia

I'm 47 and have recently been researching dyspraxia. I have sooo many signs of it. I've always been clumsy/cackhanded, can't go a day without spilling things, bump into things and people constantly, can't ride a bike, roller skate etc, can't tell left from right, can't judge distances at all, plus I do get a bit freaked out when all the kids are crowding me. So a lot of what I've read really resonates with me.

I'm just wondering whether it's worth trying to get a formal assessment at my late stage?

I have this too, as does my eldest. I was diagnosed back in the 90s, so it's interesting to see how things have moved on. The questionnaire asked about lots of things like 'can you sing in tune' which I really can't, but had never made the connection before! My son can't either. When I was diagnosed, the emphasis was just on physical stuff, whereas I think the organisational side of things affects me, and my son, the most.

They've made a lot of helpful suggestions for my DS, but they're more school related. I'm not sure there's much that would be relatable to an adult, to be honest. I'll be interested to see what anyone else has found.

My DSis has dyspraxia abs I can't sing in tune. I never knew that was a sign. I'm very clumsy abs disorganised as well.

It's not just motor skills though, it's executive functioning - so processing instructions, working memory, organising self and brain, being able to do two things at once like listening to a teacher talking while taking notes. I am so, so clumsy, I could trip on a road marking, but I don't have dyspraxia. My son does, and is as clumsy as me, but the way his brain works is very different.
