Dizziness, advice?

Hi everyone, I've had really bad dizziness recently as if I am swaying on a boat for a few seconds then it goes but comes back throughout the day, it's very unsettling...been doctors they checked my ears and vitals and everything normal except a bit more wax than the usual in my ears.
They said right now they wouldn't be willing to investigate further because all my vitals were normal and blood test was also normal.
Has anyone experienced this? Will it go? Im a bit worried because it comes out of nowhere, I could be sat down and I will feel that rocking on a boat sensation and feel sick it's horrible!

Vertigo? Are you eating enough?

Purplewithred · 26/08/2021 13:16

Sounds like labyrinthitis, or low blood pressure. Are you measuring your BP regularly at home? Labyrinthitis is horrible but I believe it's viral (I am Not A Doctor) and when I had it it passed in a few weeks.

Have the gps given you anything for it? I get Stematil (prochloperazine). It does the trick.

Well they checked my blood pressure and said it was perfect, oh okay I've never heard of that, I had something like this about two months ago, they prescribed anti biotics and it went which I did mention to them but because my ears looked normal they said nope not that and then told me some things are just medically inexplainable

I’ve described it as a ro king boat sensation also. It’s a different sort of dizzyness to when you get up suddenly. You don’t feel like you’re going to black out. It sometimes makes me stumble, - I probably look drunk! Can also make me feel a little confused at times, but not always.

Standrewsschool · 26/08/2021 13:21

Mine took a week to pass, and that was with medication!

They just didn't seem concerned at all because of the bloods and vitals :/ It's really uncomfortable and makes me feel a bit sick like car sick

Any other symptoms or just the dizziness OP? Any numbness pin and needles? If it’s continuing see GP for possible referral. Are your sight tests up to date? If not that maybe worth checking. Dizziness should always be investigated.

Just the dizziness and feels like a pressure in my ears, I was really convinced it was an ear infection but apparently not. Also feeling a bit sick when the dizziness comes on

Have a google at BPPV OP. A Specially trained doctor or physio can identify it by doing positional testing of/with your head and watching your eyes, theres then another set of manoeuvres than can be done to help settle the vertigo. The tricky part can be finding a specialist tho but good luck in getting whatever it is sorted.

I always thought vertigo was when the room is spinning rather than you :/ I just feel like I keep swaying it's a very odd feeling but I will look into what you said and see if it matches :)

Just seen something called 'rocking vertigo' sounds very much like my symptoms almost to a T... maybe it's vertigo, but doctor said unlikely as I didn't have the spinning of room:/

Have you had ferritin and B vitamins checked?

I've had this for 4 months, have been prescribed 3 different labrinthitis meds which made no difference. Have an appointment again next Friday to moan at my gp yet again.

Anonymousxo · 26/08/2021 19:38

Hi everyone, just an update I've developed a rash all over my body now and I still have the dizziness...I finished anti biotics two days ago for a chest infection, could this be a late reaction?

@Anonymousxo have you had the Covid vaccine recently? I know a number of people who reported dizzy spells after both doses but it settled down eventually. You can also get dizzy spells from any kind of virus including Covid19.

I had one dose 6 weeks ago but I don't think it's related tbf, I had something like this a few months back and I was given anti biotics but now they are telling me it's nothing basically lol
