feeling a bit sceptical about cranial osteopathy treatment for ds2 - what do you think of this?

said that top of ds2's head compressed

sees it a lot in breech babies (he was breech til last few days)

but surely they're well cushioned in utero???

a few friends of mine have used this treatment with great results

i am of the opinion, that something like this can't hurt and at best can really help

BettySpaghetti · 01/12/2007 19:36

A friend of ours took their DS to a CO and saw amazing results.

He was a fractious, non-sleeping, constant screamer which the CO said was down to his long and difficult birth.

After some CO he was a different baby apparently.

Tutter, just go with it, I was slightly when I first took DD for her flat head thing.

I was kissing his feet the week after! It literally just popped out after a few days and she had a really noticable flat spot. It didn't even look like he was doing anything but now I am slightly in love with him I think! Just about to take DS for his non sleepyness.

CatIsSleepy · 01/12/2007 19:41

could be worth a try

seemed to help dd, she seemed to get more settled after her course of treatment (though I can never rid myself of the suspicion that it could just have been coincidence...)

Tutter · 01/12/2007 19:48

sorry, wasn't clear

in general i am happy with the idea of co - used it with ds1

it was specifically the bit about the top of a baby's head being flattened/compressed by being in the breech position - sounded odd to me - i thought they were more or less suspended in utero?

dunno...but by the end there's not much room in there is there-if they're the wrong way round I guess it's possible the head is pressing hard against bits it's not supposed to press against
who told you this?

DD2 was a changed child for the better after osteopathy. She could only hold her neck in one position and shoulders were hunched. The osteopath reckoned that she had, for want of a better word, whiplash. She was a planned section but they had difficultly getting her out as she was really stuck and they had to pull at her neck quite a bit.

After her first visit she had a neck and was able to move her neck in every direction. It was incredible. It also cleared her colic and congested eyes and nose.

Give it a go.

You can get babies born with deformed hands and feet from being squashed in utero so why not a slightly squashed head? Makes sense to me. The bones are not hard like ours so will accomodate the room they have available.

Not to belittle your question or anything but some fish only grow to the size the tank they are in will allow. The bigger the tank the bigger they grow - nature is a marvellous thing

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 02/12/2007 16:24

DS was unable to turn his head to the left when he was born, due to being in the same position in utero for months.

One session of CO later and he could turn his head both ways.

I am a convert.

luciemule · 02/12/2007 16:35

Our CO said DS' head was compressed too and after about 8 sessions (he was older so neeeded more)I noticed a big difference. After only 2 sessions he could lie comfortably on his back which he could never do before. and he slept for much longer periods of time.

Stick with it - it does look as if they're not actually doing anything during treatment I know but I truely believe there's a lot in it.

NAB3littlemonkeys · 02/12/2007 17:12

Our 3rd child had some sessions and I am very pleased we did.

MarsLady · 02/12/2007 17:17

Lots of my clients use a CO. Good results all round. I used to be a sceptic, now I'm a total convert.
