I've never seen worms before, never had worms before but this does look like worms? Just come up to bed and DS must have done a poo in the potty earlier and not poured it away ( hes 4 )

Sorry for the photo but what do you think? I'm going to ring the GP in the morning regardless but now I'm sat here Hmm

Looks more like actual thread to me...hard to tell from the pic.

Worms move, so if they're wriggling then they're worms. Have you checked his bottom? They normally come out of the opening at night and itch.

MoonlightFancy · 24/08/2021 02:08

Looks like worms to me, yes. Will need to get some medicine from the pharmacy. Think they tell you to dose everyone in the household. Might also be time to push for very thorough hand washing too if the 4 year old toilets in his potty and then clears it away himself too.

MorriseysGladioli · 24/08/2021 02:10

Yep.
There isn't much else it can be.
At the risk of sounding gross, you'll see them squirming around on a fresh poo.

ReallyHardToPickAUserzname · 24/08/2021 02:24

Thanks for the swift replies everyone. I feel horrible on DS, I dont know how long hed had them for Sad

Valhalla17
Their not moving in his stool but I have just checked his bottom and the same things were all around his anus ( again not moving though )I've cleaned them away but I dont know what else I can do until the morning. I thoroughly washed my hands and then went and checked DD and she seems fine, she had nothing there ( I'll be getting her medicine too regardless )

MoonLightFancy

Can I speak directly to the pharmacy or do I need to speak to the GP first? Yes I've read theyll give us all medicine ( I'd be getting me and DD some regardless ) During the day he will shout me and I will help him wipe/wash his hands, he doesnt normally do a poo at night.

I havnt seen them moving but their on his poo and were on his bum.

He's always licking things when we go out 🤦‍♀️ always got his finger up his nose then in his mouth, we practise clean hands and use a lot of anti bacterial but clearly I need to do better Hmm cant believe it the poor little sod

Yes. Worms.

Einszwei · 24/08/2021 02:44

GP not needed. Go to the pharmacy and pick up some ovex for the whole family.

Make sure to hot wash all your sons bedding/towels etc.

FakeFruitShoot · 24/08/2021 03:30

Looks like worms. No GP needed just ovex.

They are super common, and clearly aren't causing him too much pain / discomfort. Just treat them and everyone else over 2 in with ovex, hot wash bedding and towels, hoover thoroughly. It might be worth binning any playdoh / magic sand etc as this tend to get under fingernails and pick up eggs etc.

MoonlightFancy · 24/08/2021 22:52

Don’t feel bad either, kids are gross and constantly putting things in their mouths they shouldn’t! :) hope you guys get them gone fast.

MiddleClassProblem · 24/08/2021 22:59

Dd had them twice and they didn’t look like that. Agree that it looks more like thread. The shapes they are making are odd and the colour is very bright white rather than the translucent white. They would be in normal worm type shapes like c or s or straight etc but then maybe these are longer?
I would watch it and see if they move I’d you can stomach it.

MiddleClassProblem · 24/08/2021 23:00

Also super common, ovex for all. Don’t worry, it’s just one of those things that people don’t talk about but happens regularly.

minipie · 24/08/2021 23:03

If they are definitely not moving it’s very unlikely they are worms. Worms move, unless you’ve taken worm medicine.

Also they look a bit too bright white as pp says and not the right shape

Could it be bits of tissue??

No harm in ovex anyway though tbh.

Howshouldibehave · 24/08/2021 23:03

They don’t actually look like worms to me. Odd that the ones you’ve seen by his bottom aren’t moving as well. He hasn’t been chewing on anything white recently, has he?

minipie · 24/08/2021 23:07

Oh and you don’t need the Gp for worms. Just go to the pharmacy and ask for Ovex.
