What do you do for a fever - DD complaining she is cold, but has a low grade fever.

She is 2 years old. She threw up this morning, DH looked after her today and he said she was a little "zoned out" today. She had a little tea, and threw up again. She also has a fever. I gave her some calpol, and she was complaining that she was cold, but she felt hot, and the thermometer said low fever.

What do I do - cover her up as she says she is cold, or leave her with no covers on (she has nothing on but a nappy) as she is hot?

I would give her Nurofen too and let her snuggle in. This will keep her warm but the nurofen should control temp. Also plenty fluids help reduce temp. Hope she is better tomorrow.

thanks. We gave her calbuprofen (sp!) and she is asleep, she did drink a fair bit before going to sleep.

Yeah probably the best thing. They are pretty resilient at this age so hopefully you will have your daughter back tomorrow. Hope you all get some sleep. It's horrible when they are not well. My dd is nearly 7 and I still get really upset when she isnt well.

I hate her being sick / fevery. When going to sleep she was giggling and saying mummy mummy mummy - not sure if she was just glad to see me or having a odd fever moment.

They can be strange when they are ill. You just want to be ill instead of them. She was probably just being clingy and glad to have her mummy with her. I know when I'm ill I want my mummy and Im nearly 30.

Thank you for the advice
