Ahhh I want to pull my scalp off, it’s so itchy! What’s the best treatment?! Google is giving me lots of options, just want to know what to try tomorrow (having so far ignored it and hope it’ll go away… spoiler alert, it hasn’t…)

Nizoral shifted mine

That’s my worry, @Justilou1 - that even if the flaking stops (which has improved even in the last few days, so I’m grateful that posting this thread at least encouraged me to start to look for a solution!), my hair will keep thinning and not improve.

Is it a broader approach I need to take? Someone recommended something on prescription upthread, I’ll Google it. Should I be taking supplements? I’ve had two children and my hair has fallen out around 5 months pp with each, but then stabilised and I’ve had those wispy baby-hairs on my temples coming back, and now I’m back to almost normal- except for this thing now.

It was me. You need to find a dermatologist who specialises in scalp problems. They will probably discuss your thinning hair history (I suggest you exaggerate it a bit, as it’s early days) and do a biopsy and also get you to collect hair fall from clothes, bathroom and hairbrush for a certain period of time to be counted and to look at what part of the hair cycle your hair is falling.

I also take Solgar 10000ug Bioten which I get from iHerb. Trinny spoke about it in some of her hair loss conversations. There might be other places to buy it in Uk.

Hi there, ok I had this really badly out of nowhere a few months ago. I tried t gel shampoo but it didn’t work alone. The itchiness was driving me insane.
I also started getting eczema around eyes so started thinking hmm, maybe this is dry skin I’m dealing with here (you haven’t mentioned your age but I’m premenopausal and it seems to be a common symptom).
This is going to sound odd but it worked for me!
I bought a pot of kokoso baby pure coconut oil. I slathered it on my scalp. Literally slathered it on, concentrating on the worst most itchy areas. Yes I looked like a greaseball but I chose a weekend I was at home. I put it on at night and in the morning, for two days then tied my hair back. If I felt an itch I put a bit more coconut oil on. I then washed it out with t gel shampoo. After a couple times of doing this, the spots and itching were gone. What I do now to maintain it, is once or twice a week coconut oil overnight, then t gel after. All other time’s I use Faith in nature tea tree shampoo and always the conditioner too.
Maybe worth a try for you too.

This is the only thing that's remotely touched mine. Fwiw I did also rub a TINY wee bit into my eyebrows too.

I have suffered with this for 20 years. I found Nizarol and Head and Shoulders dry itchy scalp shampoo in between Nizarol treatments works wonders. I also occasionally use Sulpher 8 light hair dress on my scalp, as this calms my scalp. I’m addition I take high strength vitamin D and Biotin with coconut oil tablets daily.
