Been going on for 7 nearly 8 weeks, I have been seen by gynae, surgery & physio and discharged from all.Now waiting for new gynae referal.

Symptoms- pain in lower abdomen , uterus? area, very much around my c-section scar anyway!

been throwing up for about 5 weeks (not sure if this is stress related tho)

weak, tired very easily

lost about a stone though this could be down to the sickness & loss of appetite.

feels like something isfalling out of me if I stand for too long (20 mins)

certain postions hurt in sex

Now it also hurts to wee.

Have been preg tested, tested for stds, no coil though had a failed attempt at one about a month prior to this.I had an ultrasound done too.

Am so very fed up now, any suggestions welcome!

I would have another pg test as can do false negatives..
kidney infection?
have you tried nhs direct/used their online diagnostic tool?

JoanWilder · 29/11/2007 20:33

or a diet thing? colitis/ food allergy?

god forbid - ectopic pg?

Nymphadora · 29/11/2007 20:38

had 12 perg tests in 3 days at the hosp and a few since and have also had 2 epriods since this all started so v unlikely now.

scan ruled out ectopic

not sure about food allergy ,wouldn't that have worn off by now if I am not eating that much?

OP posts:
JoanWilder · 29/11/2007 20:46

depends what you are/not eating?

my friend has the gluten thing (Coeliac?) any flour based food really cocks her up, ie bread/cake/biscuit etc etc

JoanWilder · 29/11/2007 20:47

sounds like a bladder/kidney infection tbh, possibly from the coil attempt?

GoneFishing · 29/11/2007 20:55

Could it be a prolapse?

Endometriosis?

Adhesions from C-section?

Nymphadora · 02/12/2007 01:40

Sorry net kicked me off on thurs & just got back on!

Got to see Gp on Friday & it was a different one to usual. She took loads of swabs, blood & urine tests (am def NOT pregnant!) and asked about what meds I had already had (nothing).Apparantly gynae at the hospital had missed a few tests as well and she was disgusted that I was discharged weeks ago.

Then she said sounds like PID but not very likely (???) but in meantime she gave me 2 lots of antibiotics and some anti-nausea meds (Woohoo!!!) and strict instructions to come back in a week.

sounds like when i had huge urinary infection - kidneys, bladder, the lot. It took a three-week course of antibiotics to shift it

Really hope you feel better soon

Nymphadora · 02/12/2007 01:54

was tested for urine/kidney infection originally but was negative though I think it may be possibility atm

Deep pain during sex is highly suggestive of endometriosis. Adhesions from c-section are also a possibility; these are sticky strands that tether organs together.

Endometriosis is not picked up through either ultrasound or blood tests; its usually diagnosed through a keyhole surgery op called a laparoscopy. Has no-one actually suggested this type of surgery?.

Would insist to your GP that if current treatment is ineffective you are immediately referred to a consultant gynae at a gynae unit (if you live near a big city use that hospital unit rather than your local one). Endo and or prolapse needs to be confirmed or ruled out here.

Nymphadora · 02/12/2007 18:08

Was under gynae but was discharged so am waiting fo rnew appointment as I had to be referred again. They did rule out prolapse but GP said my womb is very tilted so this may be contributing?

Only really have option of local hospital don't know where the nearest 'large' unit would be.

I was hospitalised twice with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome).

I had pain all across my lower abdomen, particularly where my ovaries are. At first they thought it was kidney stones, then a pelvic infection. I was vomiting for a week each time.

Could it be this???

AttilaTheMeerkat · 02/12/2007 18:29

Some women who are diagnosed with IBS actually have endometriosis.

Were you originally placed on a gynae unit?.

I would ask for a referral to a gynae as a matter of course particularly if you have not seen a gynae previously.

The vomiting only started a couple of weeks in though and didn't seem to be linked , seemed to be caused by stress, it started the day after my nanna died and then was much worse around times I have been more stressed.
Haven't been sick today though though tablets not nice!

when i had PID i presented like you for weeks, until i conked out at work with systemic infection. up til then there was no real sign of infection in my bloods, and i tested -ve for all the usual suspects in causing PID. i responded fast to being dripped with antibiotics.

Nymphadora · 02/12/2007 18:59

Went through gp then sent to A&e because I was on verge of collapse in surgery , then saw surgical team who ruled out appendix and passed me to Gynae.Eventually seen after 9 hours, and pain had worn off , was examined and swabbed (though apparantly not for anything useful!) , then was sent home and returned for a scan and appointment following day at which I was discharged as they couldn't see anything.

Appointment next week , tok GP 2 weeks to send referral letter and then another 2 for it to get to the appointments people.

The coil episode - could it be related?

Katymac · 02/12/2007 19:12

My mum had something similar when I was 16

Severe pain, vomiting, weightloss

It turned out (after 8 weeks in & out of hospital with varying diagnosis), that her appendix was in the wrong place and was stuck to her bowel & her ovary

She had emergency surgery a laparopetmy (sp or someting else) basically from tummy button to pubic hair

Funnily enough GP had suggested that just before ethe first admission

Nymphadora · 04/12/2007 09:59

Have been scanned surely that would pick up something like that?

insanityclaus (love the name btw) I think it is , very similar pain, and it can also be a cause of PID.

Was very bad last night, am off work again now, not really slept, ended up with calpol because I couldn't keep the tabl;ets down and it took the edge of the pain enough for me to rest. Have booked a call with GP today .

Nymphadora · 04/12/2007 12:31

Spoken to Gp , not a lot of use really just stop one lot of ABs and see if that helps the vomiting.

OP posts:
inSanityClaus · 05/12/2007 16:00

Useless! But what to do next?

Nymphadora · 06/12/2007 12:08

Had v bad night Tues, passed out with pain.
Yesterday lost use of my hands (side affect of ABs?) and was v dizzy

Today been back to GP , test results back , no infection but still waiting on Chlamydia but had neg before for that.

ANymore pain/fainting to get immediate referral to Gynae.

Hi Nymphadora

Was reading through & wondering how you are.

Sounds very much like I was for the last few months with endometriosis, the pain, sickness weight loss. The feeling that nobody is listening to you.In & out of hospital. Until I found a good Gyne & after keyhole it was confirmed endometriosis, my womb was stuck to either side of my bowel which was causing all the pain. I was on 16 pain killers aday to no effect. Had surgery 7 weeks ago & never looked back it took the gyne 2 1/2 hours in thearte & an hour in recovering but the moment I came round it was bliss.
