Constant uti feeling and swollen urethra no uti

I’ve been dealing with constant uti symptoms and what feels like a swollen urethra for ages, doesn’t actually burn to wee but get a horrible feeling afterwards, and feels like there’s a bubble almost stuck in my urethra! I’ve had lots of uti tests and and a sti check, me and OH have been trying for a baby for the past 2 years so had plenty of swabs..

GP doesn’t want to know because there’s “no infection” there’s blood traces in the tests and I’m SURE somethings going on!

Has anyone else had this? Apart from being painful It’s driving me insane tbh.

Yes, bladder heaviness is my worst symptom....feels likle a cricket ball. Worse at night.

chillydownwiththefiregang · 13/01/2022 14:46

VioletRose91 · 16/01/2022 00:05

Sorry OP I didn't realise you'd replied. Sorry to hear it's still the same for you, how about now?

Still the same for me too. I have tried everything.

I had something similar a few years ago. I was on and off anti biopics for 6 months or so and then ended up seeing a gynaecologist who diagnosed me with “irritable bladder”. He said the bladder is a muscle which needs to be stretched and I was not drinking anywhere near enough water so when I needed the toilet even a tiny bit I felt like it was urgent (and had the symptoms of a uti/cystitis). I have managed to really turn things around but drinking waaaaaay more water and “improving” the bladder muscle. I hope this might be something that could help you too?

I had this for literally a decade. Constant discomfort which led to anxiety and MH problems and marriage problems. I was constantly at the GP's and had scans and tests and regular doses of anti-biotics - never any improvement to show for it. Thanks to a suggestion on Mumsnet though I tried D-Mannose tablets and they have literally changed by life. I still get occasional UTIs but a couple of tablets literally knocks it on the head so I no longer have the constant discomfort.

I stop taking the tablets when the discomfort is gone though because I've no idea whether long-term use does any damage. I have pretty much given up the medical profession taking the issue seriously.

I suffer with similar to this.... I put it down to cystitis.... it usually clears itself and does intermittently comes and goes.

chillydownwiththefiregang · 31/01/2022 19:23

But the OP has been tested for a UTI and the tests come back clear. This is her issue.

@Rosieposie79 were your test results coming back saying you had a urine infection though? OP is getting all these symptoms without a urine infection, hence her frustration.
Rosieposie79 · 31/01/2022 21:30

@chillydownwiththefiregang my test results were sometimes clear and sometimes positive. The underlying discomfort was constant though.

Chas23 · 17/09/2023 15:23

Hi, same here, struggling with this for a long time, urine tests are all negative, blood in urine, urologist booked cystoscopy and ct scan, currently waiting, did you find out in the end what was causing yours? Did it end up going away on its own? Thanks.

@VioletRose91 Hey! Sorry I know this is an old thread, but just wondering if you got any answers/this got resolved? Currently experiencing the same thing...

Elliejane · 02/07/2024 20:21

@VioletRose91 i know this is old thread but how are you now? Did anything help ?

VioletRose91 · 16/09/2024 23:14

Hi all!
I still have the same symptoms, sometimes more often than others. Weirdly I find it worse at the end of my period, wondering if hormones could be playing a part. The uncomfortable air bubble feeling remains, I'm currently awaiting pelvic physio to see if it helps!
