My mum has broken both her arms. She's currently in hospital waiting on an op for one. I'm just wondering what aides she'll need when she comes out for the home. Any suggestions will be really appreciated.

Perching stool so she can sit at a height either in kitchen or bathroom, trolley as above to avoid carrying, tube with ropes to help pulling on socks. Intermediate care or reablement team will help with getting up/to bed , bathing. Dressing, meal prep etc. Is there anyone available to help with shopping, cleaning and driving to appointments?

I broke my arm (upper arm) and was in a sling for some time. Please make sure she gets advice on whether and how she can mobilise in the coming weeks. My arm was immobile in a sling for maybe 2 months and when it came out, my shoulder and elbow had totally seized up and I needed very uncomfortable physio to get going again.

Comfy cushions / pillows to prop up in bed. V v careful if she has strong painkillers - codeine can lead to agonizing constipation. Bluetooth headphones so she can chat on the phone. Maybe an Alexa for music etc?

I lost myself in my imagination for a minute when I read about bum wipers Grin whoever made that = genius
I've no better advice than that op, but good luck to your Mum and I hope she makes a speedy recovery Flowers
