Wisdom tooth extraction

I'm sorry I already had a thread on this Blush

I'm having bottom left wisdom tooth out next week. Anyone who's been there, how long till I can sleep on that side? I had both out on the other side years ago and can't remember. The problem is I have chronic pain from right hip and back and can only sleep on my left. I have medication but at best it might give me a few hours dozing.

I'm pretty terrified so this is probably displacement activity but I really want to know so I can count down the hours till I'll be able to sleep! Asked dentist but got wishy-washy answer.

I had bottom left out at the dentist, no sedation, the painful part was the anaesthetic. The rest of it was odd, but fine, tugging, like a c section! As soon as the anaesthetic wore off it was normal, I could certainly sleep on that side,

I had all of mine out at once and had no problem sleeping on either side after.

I don’t think anyone can really answer that. It’s quite variable. When I had my top wisdom teeth out, I wasn’t in any discomfort afterwards, the extraction itself was very quick and easy. When I had my bottom tooth removed I had to have the sedation and afterwards my face was massively swollen and I had bruising all the way down my neck. Very painful.

Thank you all. I'm pretty sure the pain was bad for 4 or 5 days last time. I am older too which might make a difference Shock I think bottom ones are worse - I remember more tugging on the bottom! A friend told me a horror story about his wife who was referred to hospital for an extraction because it was 'complicated' and the oral surgeon was pulling on it for about an hour!

I was sedated last time but it would be an extra £1,200.00 as it has to be done by an anaesthetist (not in U.K.). So I am having Xanax and gas and air. Did a gas and air trial last week and it had less effect than a small glass of wine Hmm I still cannot believe I am allowing this to happen while I'm awake!

Will cross my fingers my cheek is OK to sleep on! Actually am thinking I might be able to arrange the pillows with a hole for it if not...

It's done... fuck that was traumatic! The tooth broke and she had to drill the root out. Hurts like hell and can't stop the bleeding. It's been 3 hours. Have just sent DH to get extra compresses/swabs. Have ice on my cheek. Anything else I can do? Should I keep a swab in till it stops? Dentist is open till 9, not sure if it warrants a phone call or not... hardly any bleeding last time.
