TMI but bloody diarrhea

Hi all,
I'm so sorry to do this but had a bit of an explosive moment! First stool of the day - fine. Second - a bit soft & yellowish.

3rd?! Well. THAT happened in the street in front of my in-laws! I'm not even kidding. Thought I'd got a pump but nope.

Went inside to experience liquid diarrhea that was bright red as well as yellow & brown. The first bit that happened outside has stained the gusset (omg I'm so sorry). Brown in the centre & a red bloom - like those science tests you did at school to separate colours which, if I wasn't about to have a panic attack, I'd remember the name of. The rest of the poo clearly red coloured, no dark blood & no clots.

Rang Dr's immediately - explained no pain & no warning! No cramps, no gurgles & I've only had this liquidity once after oysters (bastard things). Never blood. Mildly itchy anus recently which I put down to being 43 & possibly perimenopausal.

I've got a blood test booked Monday morning & if it happens again then I've to ring back & he'll examine me - which now wouldn't be till Monday either.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? Can't lie - I'm bricking it! Literally started sertraline this morning for anxiety & health anxiety & I want to go hide away in a ball.

Just to update & bump (sorry), first passing today was more solid but a lil slimy with a few tiny speckles of gummy pink. Also just had a phone call to say two ppl we were with this week tested positive, my kids have been with them all week.

Me & hubby already in isolation cos of a work colleague testing positive 😭. Tests all currently clear but a bit panicked about what I do & what can happen with seeing a Dr.

Hi OP, sorry not sure what the issue could be but helping you to bump. That must have been very scary! Have you ever had tummy troubles before? I have and it turned out to be an imbalance of the bacteria after a course of antibiotics- the effects lasted about a year and it was horrible! Nothing sinister though so try not to worry too much at the moment.

Hopefully your PCRs come back negative so that you can go into the doctors to get your tests.

Should have also said, covid symptoms can manifest in your gut and I do know someone who was hospitalised with the gut symptoms (only hospitalised because she was pregnant though I think!), so could be a symptom of that. It is good you are getting tested alreadySmile

@hiphiphooray7 Thanks for replying - it was terrifying tbh. I don't feel remotely unwell otherwise & the chances of me having covid are low (but never zero, obvs), kids only got back yesterday (that's why I was outside the house). Exposure to other positive case was over a week ago now. Dr wanted me to call for an examination if any more blood but it's Saturday, so I can't.

I don't know the answer but just wanted to say I was contacted by track and trace and told to isolate. Two days later I had 24 hours of constant yellow vomiting and now today I've had contact fecal incontinence. I also have a terrible headache and temperature. My PCR is on its way in the post. I hope it's not covid, I'm double vaxxed too!

Caerulea · 07/08/2021 11:08

@Nanny67 Oh I'm so sorry! I'm doubled vaxxed too (just over 2 wks), you always hope you will be in the majority group of being protected but at the very least you'll be far less ill than you might have been without it.

Where I am in the UK is still seeing increases - massive tourist area so we are still being very careful. Hope, if you've caught it, you have a very smooth recovery!
