Having a minor panic due to flash backs of an anal fissure last year.

I had a very solid number two yesterday and today have just been and there is red in my stool. It feels a little sore/torn.

I can't remember what I'm meant to do to heal it. Any advice? TIA.

No real advice I’m afraid, but I’m guessing you’re already drinking lots of water?
Sending hugs. Had a few similar issues postpartum, and it’s shit. (Literally)

I feel for you OP, I had awful problems with fissures after the birth of DD. Things that worked for me - lactulose and for a particularly bad one, a prescribed cream called Rectogesic (which works but weirdly gives you a headache!). Anusol can also help give relief.

Sudocrem works the best for quick relief. Also use wet wipes instead of toilet paper. My daughter has suffered for many years with a recurrent fissure and has had botox twice. She finds sudocrem is the best way now of managing it.

Fibre to avoid any constipation, and a barrier cream is a really good idea. Try not to strain, and dont rush using the toilet. Ive been there,’its horrific x

If you up your fibre, which is a great idea, increase water to match. If you're not used to much fibre in your diet, increase it gradually or you'll make matters worse. But in the long run it's the best strategy.

If you have any flax seeds or linseeds, soak a few tsp in water for a few hours or overnight, then drink it down. The seeds get this jelly on them and it's a natural way to get your poo a bit slippier. I think chia does the same thing too.

Get yourself some movicol (or laxido, similar sort of thing), you can buy it over the counter. 1 sachet a day to keep things soft and use sudocrem for the soreness.

I'm in a similar position. All I can advise is that you make sure your stools are not hard like bullets because this is when I bleed. Fibre all the way and plenty of water to drink
