Great googly moogly, what's going on with my toe?

Was stung by a bee just over a week ago. Had forgotten quite how painful that is but whipped stinger out, applied ice and bicarb, took ibuprofen and antihistamine and all good.

Once it stopped hurting it completely stopped, if you see what I mean - no lingering tingling or numbness or itchiness. So just cracked on.

Yesterday, suddenly developed the most ferocious itching on that toe. At first this seemed centred on where the sting was but feels more generalised now.

Quite red but no broken or flaky skin. I put some athlete's foot cream on it earlier, just in case it is that, which gave very temporary relief but I'm back to feeling like I could happily rip my toe off again.

Anyone had similar? I can't work out if it's related to the sting or I've coincidentally developed athlete's foot (which I've never had before, and it doesn't look like) in the same place.

Only thing I haven't tried yet, now I think about it, is antihistamine, so I'm away to take some now.

Itch update.

Antihistamine seems to have helped. Does anyone know if a bee sting suddenly doing this after a week is a thing?

Try Savlon. I use it for itchy skin. Can't answer your question though; I've never been stung by a bee.

I often find that bites and stings re-energise after a few days.

Make sure it doesn't start to swell/go red/hot/painful etc as that could be cellulitus.

I've had several horsefly bites recently. All of them hurt slightly at the time, then became red, swollen and furiously itchy a couple of days later, lasting for several more days. Nothing helped much - just had to wait until it died down.

This happened to DS a few years ago Bee sting, pulled out the stinger and full recovery within hours but about 4 days later the are went red again and swelled up. Piriton, sudacrem and it was ok within 48 hours

This is reassuring, thank you. Will keep on with the antihistamine and keep an eye on it for anything sinister.

Definitely not a horsefly, I'm all too familiar with those gits. There's a bite on the back of my leg that's just calmed down after about six weeks, and I'm not convinced it won't flare up again if the weather goes really hot.

Much better today.

Taking antihistamine just to cover it but suspect it's better really.

So it seems it was just the sting flaring up, how weird.
