Hiya,
I've had SPD for two years, my dd was 2 last Sept, and had it from 14weeks gestation - so it has felt like forever.

Got hospital appointment on the 18th Dec, so hopefully beable to get something done for it!

But, last night during sex () my hip joint got stuck. It has happened before just through walking, but has never been for that long.

It feels like the socket comes away, and I literally can't move to lower my leg.

What's causing this? Another time it is similar is when I lie in bed, and move my leg in a certain way. Again, it feels as if something is popping out.

Finally, both hips click a stupid amount!!

Is it all to do with the SPD?

Thanks

Thanks Frau....Going to Prince Charles in Merthyr, don't know what they can do. Suppose it is another trip to the doctor, with something that they haven't got a clue about!

Actually, I have the implant contraceptive, and not sure if that is affecting it.

I have had it for 13 months..and it didn't start until after my DD was born!!

The subluxation/clicking in your hips doesn't sound like SPD tbh, more like a problem with the actual hip joint itself. You shouldn't have relaxin floating around 2 years on, so it's a good idea you are having it checked out.

You'll probably have a series of x-rays to see what sort of shape your acetabulum (socket part of the hip joint) is.

No doubt at some point you'll be on your way to physio as well to get some hip stabilising exercises.

mine has gonenow dd2 is 11 wks. hope that you get it resolved

Slubberdegullion

Yousound as if you know what your talking about

I had physio before before, and was told my hips were out of alignment. Physio didn't help them.

Is it a "bad" think that my hip got stuck, and clicks?

Thanks

(Also wishing mine went after childbirth!)

Well in a previous BC existance I used to know what I was talking about (used to be an orthopaedic/outpatient physio).

The phrase 'out of alignmenment' is somewhat unhelpful. You may just have naturally shallow acetabula which would mean that any ligamentous instability aroungd the joint could case them to sublux (slightly pop out and go back in again).

If it is causing you pain, then it is a problem, and you need it checked out. Sorry physio didn't help last time. A good pliates instructor would show you some good core strengthening exs, but see the orthopods first.

Thanks for that Slubber, gives me an insight into what the hospital may be looking for.

Sick of being in pain all day, every day tbh

Are you stil breastfeeding? Think means there is still relaxin being produced. Think it does - have had lots of back/hip problems recently and I had SPD when pregnant and youngest is 2.6 now.

jofeb04 · 27/11/2007 21:39

No Tinker, I never did anyway!

I had spd with my 2nd child then I fell pregnant with ds3 and my spd was so bad I ended up on crutches & being induced.
There is a 2 year age gap between my 2 youngest and my spd never went away during that time. It was more bareable than when I was pregnant but still sore. Ds3 is months old and I still have a lot of problems. For some women spd goes away straight after birth but for the unfortunate few it can last a very long time.
I too have the same kind of feeling you get- like your something has popped out of the socket. I suffer with really bad back pains and the usual pains in the pelvis.
I was going to physio and they gave me exercises to do but so far they havent helped.

I hope you get on with your physio and they can do something to help you
