Hi my 16 week old has been diagnosed with HSP after a traumatic rush to the hospital with rash on his lower leg. I was wondering if anyone else had had experience of this condition.

My Sis had it when she was about 7, can't remember a great deal about it other than localised bruising, that appeared and disappeared over a period of months. She found the bruising sore at the time but she didn't have any long lasting effects. I seem to recall it can last for about 6 months, but my sis had one episode that lasted approx 4 weeks and never had a reoccurance.

I hope that you and the little one are OK, I remember my mother being very traumatised by the whole thing, as it took about 2 weeks to get a diagnosis.

Thanks ILiveinhope, I'm hoping it will clear up on it's own, sounds scary but glad to hear your sis is fine, in most cases it seems to clear but there are some worse case scenarios that I'm obviously fretting over

Hi pattymc, how are you and baby doing? My dd age 5 had a very bad case of HSP earlier this year but I know in some cases it can be quite mild. Hope thats the case for you guys and that all is well.

Just found this thread and wondered how it was all going for you? My DD contracted this when she was 4, plus subsequent complications of kidney damage. Scary times, but the good news is she has made a virtually complete recovery and, apart from annual checkups at GOSH, there are no lasting effects. Hope that's the same for you.

I had this when I was 7. I remember having a rash on my legs, and not being allowed to go swimming, but that's about it.
From memory, it cleared up after a few months, and I had a few check-ups, blood tests etc. but never had any after-effects.
Wishing you and your little one all the best.

Hi Clam - how are your dd's kidneys now? My dd age 5 had a really bad case of hsp started last march and her last weeks urine tests still show loss of blood and protein, but no treatment still. Will her kidneys get better or can she go indefinately like this without apparent side effects? Her consultant says maybe to both questions so would be interested in your experiences..

Sorry Clam - just seen your post on my earlier thread. Thats good news and very reassuring - will just keep waiting with fingers crossed.
