The NHS recommend 2l of fluids, so counting all tea, coffee, milk, juice etc.

Noshowwithoutpunch · 29/07/2021 21:10

2l

gamerchick · 29/07/2021 21:12

If you're not used to drinking 2 then it might be a bit of a shock to the bladder for a few days. It passes though.

ScarfsForAllSeasons · 29/07/2021 21:15

Really? Only 2L ?

Blimey, seems such a small amount.

@gamerchick @Noshowwithoutpunch @gamerchick I drink more than 2L most days…

2L replaces the amount your body loses...so loads more.

AuldWan · 29/07/2021 22:11

Drink when you are thirsty, sorted.

Fustyoldface · 29/07/2021 22:11

Depends on what you’re up to and heat etc I suppose as well. It’s not good to down big volumes of water too often as you can mess up electrolytes

dementedpixie · 29/07/2021 22:13

I dont drink a set amount tbh

LarsErickssong · 29/07/2021 22:16

I never really get thirsty so used to barley drink anything at all, I then bought a 2.2l bottle and aimed to drink one of those each day which I got used to quite quickly.

I now aim to drink 5 x 600ml bottles a day so 3L and feel crap if I don't have at least 4 of those.

countdowntonap · 29/07/2021 22:16

I think it depends on what you’re used to. I’ve drank a gallon of water a day for as long as I can recall (would get home from youth club and gulp 3 pints Shock ) and always finish 2 litres by 2pm-ish.
However, my husband is used to much less and 2 litres does him the day. Just depends on what your body is used to - I’m also much more active than him.

Then you're good Grin

I like measured bottles though, helps to keep track.

I drink when I'm thirsty. Any more than a few glasses a day in in the loo every 10 minutes.

I used to drink 3+ ltrs per day but almost overnight my bladder just couldn't handle that much so now I have the opposite problem and have to watch I don't drink too much.

My urine is light yellow - clear so I know I'm hydrated enough.

ScarfsForAllSeasons · 30/07/2021 14:35

@Lifesforloving1

I usually drink 4L of water a day. I don't often drink anything but water so not having extra in tea or anything.

PeonyTime · 30/07/2021 14:46

@AuldWan

Drink when you are thirsty, sorted.
Then I'd barely drink most days. I need to schedule in drinking (ie I drink with meals). I felt a bit woozy at work yesterday evening, and realised I'd been busy, skipped lunch, and hence not drunk since breakfast. I didnt feel thirsty, just dizzy.

It’s a very individual thing. The British Dietetic Association advises fluid intake of about 1600ml for women, 2000ml for men assuming they are healthy. Exactly how much someone needs depends on their size, medical issues and ambient temp/insensible losses. More fluid isn’t always best and some of the regimes pp’s are describing could be frankly dangerous for other people.

PurplePumpkinDream · 30/07/2021 19:49

Too much can be as bad as too little, as it messes up the electrolytes. I would say 2 litres of fluids is enough.
