small blisters on palms of 2 year old's hands?

Strangely enough it's my 4 year old dd who hasn't been well with a temperature and general illness since Sunday. However my 2 year old ds has woken up this morning whilst feeling fine after he'd ate his breakfast I noticed he has small blisters which are clear surrounded by red all over his palms and up one of his wrists. Is this the start of hand, foot and mouth although he isn't unwell? I have an ulcer on my tongue and noticed last night I have a red shiny patch at the back of it I looked it up and thought I may be anaemic as i'm 34 weeks pregnant but now i'm thinking I may have the mouth part of hand, foot and mouth?

sounds like hand foot and mouth. Dont always get them in or on the mouth either. My older 3 had it at the same time. One had hands only, one, hands and arms and one hand foot and mouth. They had temp and were unwell for a few days.

Hmm I've just rememebred he had blister like spots on his bottom yesterday which I was a bit concerned about but my friend said it was probably just a bit of nappy rash but it's more on the side of his cheeks rather than by his anus iyswim they are still there. Can you get chicken pox on your hands or hand, foot and mouth on your bottom?

you can get hand foot and mouth on the bottom as well. I remember that's where i first saw it on my dd1.

HF&M often starts on the bottom (according to the helpful sign they stuck up at DS's nursery when it was going round here).

Thank you. It looks like it's that then it's funny he hasn't had a temp though and dd has but she doesn't have any spots or blisters anywhere. I've got an appointment with the dr at 10.50 am I don't know whether to bother keeping it or not as it means dragging ill dd out and I know there's no treatment for h,f&m other than the usual calpol, nurofen if needed...

I remember dd1 only ate ice cream when she had hf&m, as the mouth ulcers were painful. She was fine apart from that.

My friend's ds had hand foot and mouth with the blisters appearing a week or so earlier than the mouth ulcers. Both my dd and I got the mouth ulcers and no blisters.

If you are pregnant and suspect you have it I would go and see your GP, definitely....

oh bloody hell I could really do without this. In the last 4 weeks we've had laryngitis, that weird stomach bug, ds was in hospital last Tuesday with a chest infection/ breathing, dd in out of hours last night with high temp and i'm 34 weeks pregnant.

That really sucks I think you are pretty safe at 34 weeks though, but worth talking to GP. It never rains but it pours

LedodgyDickinson · 27/11/2007 09:56

He's got blisters on his feet as well now so think there's no doubt it's hf&m will go to the gps mainly to see if this patch on my tongue and mouth ulcer is hf&m as well. It looks like dd is coming down with it because she's had the text book symptoms of before the blisters come out (unlike ds!).
