Cancer screening call back

Hi all sorry if this is in the wrong section (wasn't quite sure where to put it)
I have the BRCA2 gene which puts me at increased risk of breast/ovarian/pancreatic cancers - and had stage 3 breast cancer 9 years ago. So I have yearly MRIs and Mammograms; I've just had my yearly screening - and I've been called back for further investigation. Have anyone been in this position? What tests etc do they do extra, and, if you don't mind me asking what was the outcome for you?
I'm a little bit terrified to be honest (btw can not feel any real change or lumps to my breasts)

Sorry to hear this news. The risk of breast cancer is so high with BRCA . I realised your situation was not comparable to those called back from standard over 50's screening.

Did they know you were BRCA positive when you were treated for your last cancer? There are some newer drug treatments that can be beneficial for some with BRCA mutations, so you may find you get different treatment this time. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

So are the medics indicating that it's eminently treatable? It sounds like it. The wife of my optician discovered her breast cancer was in 20 out of 21 lymph nodes, and she's still around 30 years later. She goes to the gym every day, which she thinks has helped. Not BRCA as far as I know. Sending positive vibes Flowers

They discovered I was BRCA whilst I was being treated (father died young from pancreatic cancer so they did genetic screening). I've come to the conclusion that I'm going for a double mastectomy with reconstruction I think - but need to wait to see the oncoplastic surgeons next week

Just de-lurking to wish you luck and hope it all goes well. You’re a tough cookie. Sounds like the mastectomy is the right way ahead. Fingers crossed that surgery is all you need and wish you fast healing.
