Hi,

Just wondering what you thinks best for baby after bath ? We have tried baby oil and johnsons lotion ?

We use aveeno oil in the bath and aveeno cream after we get it on prescription but it is available in chemists. boots have it on offer at the moment!

ruty · 26/11/2007 21:17

yes aveeno only thing that worked for us.

CantSleepWontSleep · 26/11/2007 21:18

Definitely wouldn't use Johnsons. Recommend a bit of oilatum in the bath, and nothing afterwards.

manamana · 26/11/2007 21:18

always used olive oil with my ds when he was a baby - worth a try if you've got some in the cupboard!

Habbibu · 26/11/2007 21:20

Got doublebase on prescription, but you can buy it in boots. It's magic.

Leslaki · 26/11/2007 21:20

Aveeno

Weleda baby calendula moisturising cream

Diprobase

if red and sore pop some patmeal into muslin sq/hanky/sock/t towel secure in tight knot and pop it in the bath. use to wash sore areas - it's fab. Unbelievable (and messy if not secured enough...) but fab!

mollymawk · 26/11/2007 21:21

We used Epaderm, which is like a wax, and seemed (for my DS2 anyway) to be very non-irritating (we found Doublebase made his skin a bit red).

thelittleElf · 26/11/2007 21:27

I vote Aveno aswell...magical stuff

bagpuss · 26/11/2007 21:29

Diprobase

Jojay · 26/11/2007 21:32

E45 worked on my ds

ScottishMummy · 26/11/2007 21:33

diprobase

Shitemum · 26/11/2007 21:44

No soap at all, Weleda calendula oil in the bath water (makes them slippy, watch out) and Weleda calendula lotion after.

Shell001 · 26/11/2007 22:13

Not johnsons then ? oopps even baby oil is a no ? ... Aveeno is an all over lotion oil or just on patches ?

luciemule · 26/11/2007 22:15

aqueous cream without sls as well as Aveeno.

Oatmeal in a sock in the bath made my eczema a lot worse but I know it works for some people.

ScottishMummy · 26/11/2007 22:17

johnsons is like poison - harsh..bleugh

Shannaratiger · 26/11/2007 22:18

Doctor prescribed Aqueous cream instead of soap and diprobase to moisurise

Shell001 · 27/11/2007 10:20

Where can i buy Aveeno ?

at any good local pharmancy and Boots. It's a bit pricey but worth it.

Shell001 · 27/11/2007 11:23

Thanks so much

Epaderm definitely. Has only two ingredients, and it is unlikely to cause any reactions. If it does, you know which ingredients to avoid...
Works beautifully on dd's eczema patches.

starfish2 · 27/11/2007 11:44

There has been some research recently (sorry, I cannot track it down quickly enough - I think it was on BMJ a few months ago...) that shows that the bath additives have little or no effect on dryness of skin or improvement of eczema patches. What has the biggest effect is the moisturisation after the bath...

EffiePerine · 27/11/2007 11:49

olive oil. And avoid bath products as it will make it worse (you only need water for babies)
