I have had a whirlwind two weeks.

Emergency c section with a blood loss of 1500ml- they also had to cut more muscle as baby got stuck.

Poorly after c sec and was treated for sepsis.

Started to have breathing difficulties at night, heavy chest etc. Went to a&e and had a chest x ray, ecg, heart scan and bloods. All was well apart from HB was 79.

Two units of blood via transfusion.

Back in a&e with a crackly sound when laying down and shortness of breath- this was yesterday.

Was told I may have blood clots. Absolute panic.

Had scan today and no blood clots; but was told I have a small amount of fluid between lungs and chest wall.

Well I can't find any info on this apart from when you have heart failure or something serious??

The dr told me it's probably from where I had really swollen legs/feet from post surgery and my body with the lack of HB couldn't get rid of it. So it's built up in chest.

He said now I've had a transfusion it should start to go...

I don't know why but I can't help but feel there is something else and I just cannot relax! I have proper health anxiety and I guess this is because so much has happened in under two weeks.

Can you just get fluid in chest for such a small reason? I can't help but think something else is wrong. I'm worried.

Dr had told me to have an x ray in 6 weeks time to check it's all gone and back to normal. But that was about it!

It’s really not that uncommon to develop pleural effusions after being unwell. The fluid should be reabsorbed as you recover. If it doesn’t they’ll see it on the repeat X-ray and take things from there. Hope you’re feeling better soon.

@Greybeardy oh really? I have only really read they you get it from serious illnesses like heart failure or embolisms etc! So I'm really anxious that they have missed something

I had it after being ill
It cleared up,
Its fairly common

squishyegg · 22/07/2021 23:03

@AddsVsGeorgs did it take long? May I ask what was wrong? I'm finding it so hard at night time to sleep with the pressure feeling on my chest

I think it was after pneumonia

Took awhile but nothing since, and that was 15 years ago
