my ds is 11 months and recently has started to poo in the early hours around 4 or 5 ish, any dietary tips out there re getting him to poo at a more sociable time! he has about 21 ounces of milk a day would cutting this down help? - it is getting me and dh really tired as he is leaking as well and invariably requires bathing and usually will not go back to sleep - he has recently started nursery and has tea at 4pm instead of 5 we did gina ford very sucessfully but in a relaxed kinda way

Sympathies! Don't know anything that might help the regularity, but is your ds in disposables? We use reusable nappies and they seem to be leakproof! Amazing - my first 2 children were in disposables and we had loads of complete change incidents.

Hi fleurie, Tricky problem you have really. Has it started since he began nursery? if so then the earlier meal timeis likely to be to blame. Another possible cause is the type of food he is given there. Is it significantly different to the type of food he is used to at home? This can affect the bowels. And if this is the case it could be that it'll just take time for his system to get used to it. Sorry that it doesn't help the current sleepless nights .

cut down fruit/veg and teat time and try to make it more carbohydrate-y

Tots bots with fleece liners and motherease outer wraps. Nappy Lady website is brill. If you don't fancy going for the whole shebang, you could just put him in them at night. I am so impressed - less nappy rash too.

Gotta go, as I can hear the dulcet tones of dd2 demanding her midnight feed (she's 7 mths - hoping to get more sleep soon!)

good luck

thanks everyone, will give it all a go, presumably none of you think that the amount of milk he is having is a problem - he will be delighted about that
