Does this look like a fungal infection (toes)

DD13 big toes, she’s a bit of a toenail picker. Not sure what is going on but I imagine that both L/R can’t both be fungal? Please ignore the manky burgundy nail polish.

GP are phone appointments only… we can self refer to our excellent Podiatry NHS Service but they are still only doing emergency appointments (which I don’t think this is).

I know I can’t diagnose over the internet but opinions welcome thank you!

Yes, with nail varnish you are locking in any moisture and you won’t allow any treatment to penetrate the nail.

You can get porous nail polish, for once it’s treated.

Opi and Barry m do them.

Mine went in about three months of twice daily applying tea tree oil.

Would you think about treating yourself too? Might stop you passing it back on.

You can also get anti fungal nail polish in various colours, but best advice is to treat first then worry about polish!

Yes I am aware of that, I just don't feel the need to share all my titles on an Internet forum. And yes some GP's do take oral antifungals, its their choice, as it is the OP's and their DD's choice.

Thanks to everyone who’s given me advice on this, it’s really appreciated. Going to go down the route of getting the nail prepped first and then using a topical solution and see how she gets on. @Hoosi thanks for the website link - I’m off work tomorrow and will be ringing round. If the podiatrist recommends meds then also happy to consider that route vis GP. Will see.
